On Tuesday, the Iranian regime\u2019s Guardian Council, by order of the mullahs\u2019 Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, disqualified<\/a> many candidates for the sham presidential election. Khamenei\u2019s decision to consolidate power by selecting his favorite candidate, Ebrahim Raisi, has increased his regime\u2019s infightings.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI have never found the Guardian Council\u2019s decisions this much indefensible, whether in qualifying or disqualifying candidates,\u201d said Sadegh Amoli Larijani, a member of the Guardian Council, whose brother Ali Larijani, the regime\u2019s former parliament speaker, was purged from the regime\u2019s sham elections.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe cause of these disturbances is largely due to the growing involvement of the security apparatus in making decisions for the Guardian Council through false reports,\u201d Sadegh Larijani acknowledged on Twitter.\u202f\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u202fAli Larijani also wrote acknowledged in a statement, \u201cSince the election process is set to be like this, I am satisfied with God\u2019s pleasure.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Eshagh\u00a0Jahangiri<\/a>, the regime\u2019s current Vice President who is among the disqualified candidates, said: \u201cDisqualifying of many eligible candidates is a serious threat to the participating in the elections.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ali Motahari, the regime\u2019s former MP, said: \u201cI am shocked about Larijani\u2019s disqualification. He has always been loyal to the [regime.].\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe whole process of vetting candidates this time was from a security perspective and unjustified, causing a 20-years member of the Guardian Council to react. Sadly, we should say we have passed the time of engineering the election. The election is now truly a selection,\u201d said Mostafa\u00a0Tajzadeh, a former Deputy Minister of Interior.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Javad Nikbin, one of the regime\u2019s MPs from Khamenei\u2019s faction, told candidates: \u201cSome friends and respected candidates say we do not accept the law once they are disqualified. As Imam [Ruhollah Khomeini said], you are wrong. The law doesn\u2019t accept you.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On Wednesday, the state-run Jahan-e Sanat daily, while referring to Raisi\u2019s guaranteed presidency, acknowledged Iranian people\u2019s decision to boycott<\/a> the regime\u2019s sham elections.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIranian citizens considered the 2021 presidential election predetermined and not willing to participate,\u201d Jahan-e Sanat wrote.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Why Khamenei Purged Rival factions, and what are the consequences?\u202f<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

Since Khamenei and his regime are facing a restive society, he intends to control possible uprisings by consolidating his power.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In this regard, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), said: \u201cFearing the regime\u2019s overthrow and the uprising of the army of the unemployed and the hungry, Khamenei paved the way for the elimination of Ebrahim Raisi\u2019s rivals, who is the henchman of the\u202f<\/span>1988 massacre<\/span><\/a>, the murderer of the Mujahedin-e Khalq (MEK\/<\/span>PMOI<\/span><\/a>), and one of the worst criminals against humanity in the last 50 years.\u201d\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
