On Thursday, the state-run Keyhan newspaper ran a piece titled, \u201cIf you cared about election participation, you wouldn\u2019t have created poultry queues,\u201d referring to people standing in lines for hours to get basic goods for their families. According to the Human Rights News Agency, the man was identified as 28-year-old Ghobad Rahmani.<\/p>\n<p>Ghobad was a kolbar, which has become a prominent occupation for many in Iran\u2019s western cities bordering Iraq and Turkey. Kolbars are hired to carry heavy loads across the border for meager pay. Due to the lack of economic development, increasing poverty and unemployment in western Iran, more and more Iranian Kurds are forced to take up this dangerous and harsh occupation. The official death toll declared by the regime stands at 79,568, around a fourth of the actual figure. Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian opposition coalition National Council of Resistance of Iran voiced her condolences to the grieving families and wished speedy recoveries for those ill. The mullahs\u2019 regime, Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, and President Hassan Rouhani are responsible for most of the 300,000 coronavirus victims. Iran has the highest number of coronavirus deaths per capita in all countries across the globe with a wide margin. Iran: Journalists Harassed Ahead of Sham Election The Iranian regime\u2019s authorities have intensified pressures and harassment of journalists and reporters to silence criticism of state policies. There are numerous reports that the intelligence agents in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps have contacted several social media activists, threatening them not to post content that criticizes Iran\u2019s Chief Justice and presidential candidate Ebrahim Raisi, otherwise they will be in \u201ctrouble\u201d. Several media workers who sought to report about Raisi\u2019s background were subjected to pressure and a few of them were summoned to appear before judicial or security authorities. A Kurd journalist was detained in the western province of Ilam for writing a piece that was critical of Ebrahim Raisi, Iran\u2019s current Chief Justice and presidential candidate.
