Days before the mullahs\u2019 <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/2021-iran-presidential-election-iran-regime-sham-election-ncr-iran\/\" rel=\"noopener\">sham presidential<\/a> election, these debates showed the regime\u2019s internal crisis as more people join the election<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/free-iran-world-summit\/free-iran-2021-nationwide-uprisings-electoral-boycotts-signal-embrace-of-alternative-rule-in-iran\/\" rel=\"noopener\"> boycott campaign<\/a>.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">While thoroughly vetted for their loyalty to the regime, the regime\u2019s so-called candidates did not lose a moment to attack one another and acknowledge some aspects of the regime\u2019s corruption. While the regime\u2019s Guardian Council had previously instructed them to steer clear from the regime\u2019s red lines, candidates turned the debate into another farce by lashing at one another. However, they did\u00a0abided\u00a0by one rule: not speaking about the violent history of <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/iran-election\/iran-election-2021-raisis-presidency-and-human-rights-in-iran\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Ebrahim Raisi,<\/a> the preferred candidates of the regime\u2019s supreme leader <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/english.mojahedin.org\/i\/iran-ali-khamenei-suprem-leader\" rel=\"noopener\">Ali Khamenei.<\/a><\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">They <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/english.mojahedin.org\/i\/iran-elections-second-debate-20210609\" rel=\"noopener\">acknowledged<\/a> the plight of Iranians under economic pressures and the regime\u2019s corruption as the real cause of this situation.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cCorrupt groups and rent-seekers have seized the economy and the society\u2019s culture. They have expansive connections in imports and exports as well as money launderers and smugglers,\u201d said\u00a0Abdolnasser\u00a0Hemmati, the former Central Bank Chief, referring to the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/inside-irans-army-of-terror-and-oppression-revolutionary-guards-irgc-part-2\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Revolutionary Guards (IRGC).<\/a><\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cThe establishment\u2019s officials have turned into nobility. They have seized control of the economy for three decades,\u201d said Alireza\u00a0Zakani\u00a0in response to Hemmati.\u00a0Zakani, a current member of parliament from Khamenei\u2019s faction, has close ties with the IRGC.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cTwenty-six spies were caught in Rouhani\u2019s government, which is supposedly the most security-focused government in history. Under Mr. Hemmati\u2019s watch, 12 trillion rials were illegally transferred from a government bank to a private bank,\u201d\u00a0Zakani\u00a0continued lashing out Hemmati\u2019s faction and Hassan Rouhani\u2019s government.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">In response, Hemmati said, \u201cEvery year, the merchants of sanctions make $16 billion in profits,\u201d referring clearly to the IRGC\u2019s network of smuggling.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Two sessions of the regime\u2019s so-called debates further showed the regime\u2019s crises. Some of the regime\u2019s MPs described these debates as a \u201ccursing match.\u201d<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cThe main task of these debates was attacking the political establishment of the [regime]. Khamenei\u2019s rival faction had also claimed that eliminating its candidates from the election by the Guardian Council will decrease people\u2019s participation.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">While these developments certainly impact society to further confirm the regime is not democratic, the Iranian people have long announced their willingness to boycott the regime\u2019s sham election. Iranians from all walks of life have been chanting in their protests that \u201cwe will not vote anymore; we have seen no justice.\u201d The People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/english.mojahedin.org\/about-iranian-opposition-pmoi-mek\" rel=\"noopener\">(PMOI\/MEK)<\/a> has played a key role in popularizing the call for boycotting the regime\u2019s sham election through its <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/english.mojahedin.org\/t\/iranian-resistance-units\" rel=\"noopener\">Resistance Units<\/a>.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cThe low voter turnout in the upcoming election is our enemy\u2019s everlasting dream.\u00a0Yet,\u00a0today some people speak of low participation. This presumed low voter turnout is not due to the disqualifications by the Guardian Council,\u201d said Mehdi Kiany, Khamenei\u2019s representative in\u00a0Kohgiluyeh\u00a0and\u00a0boyer-Ahmad province, on Friday.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cI believe mismanagement is the cause of low participation. Some people try to blame the Guardian Council for the low voter turnout. This is a trick.
