June 12 marks World Day Against Child Labor<\/strong><\/a>. According to the United Nations 2020 annual report<\/strong><\/a>, at the start of 2020, prior to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, there were 160 million children \u2013 63 million girls and 97 million boys, child labor or 1 in 10 children worldwide. Seventy-nine million children \u2013 nearly half of all those in child labor \u2013 were in hazardous work, directly endangering their health, safety, and moral development. \n Based on state-run media reports, in Iran, out of 83 million people, there are 23 million children. Iranian officials have never revealed the actual number of child laborers<\/strong><\/a>. According to unofficial reports, there are more than 7 million child laborers in Iran. He said, as long as the cause of poverty stays in place, we will witness more child labor in the streets. He did not mention the root cause of poverty in the country. Still, other state-run media continuously report<\/strong><\/a> that the systematic corruption in the regime is the real cause of poverty in Iran.<\/p>\n Children in Iran<\/strong><\/a> are victims of the regime\u2019s destructive policies. Many families cannot send their children to school simply because they cannot afford the necessary supplies. Millions of children are forced to work in the streets to contribute to the family income. The children often work long shifts, sometimes 19 hours with no breaks, which is not something that any adult should do, let alone a child.<\/p>\n As Mrs. Maryam Rajavi<\/strong><\/a> tweeted on the occasion of World Day Against Child Labor, \u201cIranian children have only experienced prison, violence, and poverty under the ruling theocracy.
