Before becoming the regime\u2019s president, Raisi was the Judiciary Chief and oversaw the crackdown on Iranian protesters during the major Iran protests in November 2019. However, Raisi\u2019s dark human rights record goes back to the 1980s. Raisi was a member of the \u201cdeath commission\u201d in Tehran that was responsible for the massacre of political prisoners in the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/1988-massacre-of-political-prisoners-in-iran\/\" rel=\"noopener\">summer of 1988<\/a>.
