The Iranian people are suffering from water shortages and power outages. While the regime tries to blame people for these crises, the reality is that the Revolutionary Guards<\/a> (IRGC) and its front companies are plundering Iran\u2019s water resources<\/a> and electricity.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The IRGC is dominating Iran\u2019s economy and resources. To fund its illicit activities, the IRGC has been trying to circumvent sanctions. In recent years, the IRGC has been cooperating with Chinese firms to extract cryptocurrencies<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0Cryptocurrency mining consumes a lot of electricity, and to continue mining. The IRGC literally drains the electricity of cities.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Besides, the regime has been exporting Iran\u2019s electricity to the neighboring countries to profit more.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe must allow the private sector to export electricity so that we can solve some of [our] problems,\u201d said the regime\u2019s MP Shahbaz\u00a0Hassanpour\u00a0on July 25.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Hassanpour\u00a0explained that the private sector, under IRGC control, should receive 51 trillion tomans invested in the electricity industry.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

While the constant blackouts put enormous pressure on the people amid the coronavirus outbreak and the scorching heat, the regime exports the electricity to Iraq and Afghanistan to use the money for funding its illicit activities.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This electricity export has reached a point that Iraq\u2019s Prime Minister, Mostafa Al-Kazemi, on July 20, said: \u201cDespite sanctions and some other problems, Iran has not failed to export electricity to Iraq.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt is estimated that about 40 percent of Iraq\u2019s electricity comes from Iran. It is noteworthy that according to the Minister of Energy last summer, electricity exports to Afghanistan will increase,\u201d wrote the state-run\u00a0Hamdeli\u00a0daily on July 5.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The so-called private companies, such as\u00a0Rohe\u00a0Mapna, affiliated with the IRGC\u2019s Khatam al-Anbia\u00a0Headquarters, produce most of Iran\u2019s electricity.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The semi-official ILNA News Agency in 2019 wrote that \u201cprivate power plants generate 60% of the country\u2019s electricity. More than 50% of the capacity of the country\u2019s power plants is provided by local experts, especially\u00a0Mapna\u00a0Company, which manages Iran\u2019s power plant projects.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The\u00a0Mapna\u00a0Group, which controls a huge capacity of the country\u2019s IRGC\u2019s -Khatam al-Anbiya\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Headquarter. This conglomerate was established in 1992, and according to the state-run Donya-e-Eghtesad, manages 85% of Iran\u2019s installed grid capacity.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the website of\u00a0Tavanir\u00a0Company,\u00a0Mapna\u00a0has also been active in the Middle East and North Africa, and the projects of\u00a0Tishrin,\u00a0Jandar, and Latakia power plants in Syria and the Century of the World project in Oman also belong to this group.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In 2018,\u00a0Eshaq\u00a0Jahangiri, the regime\u2019s vice-president, signed the contract to build the Latakia power plants in Syria in a meeting with his Syrian counterpart.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The regime\u2019s Minister of Energy and his counterpart participated in the opening ceremony of this project only a day after the regime and Syria signed the contract.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cLess than a day after the signing of the long-term economic agreement between Iran and Syria, the two countries\u2019 energy ministers traveled to Latakia province to attend a ceremony marking the province\u2019s power generation, the first practical manifestation of the agreement,\u201d the regime\u2019s state TV reported in February 2018.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This power plant mentioned is an electric power plant built by\u00a0Mapna\u00a0Company within the last three years, while Iran\u2019s water and electricity became a major challenge for people.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The IRGC has also built hundreds of dams on the Iranian rivers across the country, particularly in Khuzestan and Isfahan province, and has transferred their water to other parts of the country to continue its projects. For example, by transferring water from Karun River in Khuzestan and\u00a0Zayandeh\u00a0Rud\u00a0river in Isfahan, the regime has caused water shortages in these provinces while wasting water on its steel and petrochemical plants.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

One of the dams the IRGC has built is the\u00a0Gotvand\u00a0dam. Its project was handed over to\u00a0Sepasad\u00a0Company, which belongs to the IRGC. This contract was worth 2 trillion tomans.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The construction of these dams has only worsened Iran\u2019s water crisis. Recent protests in Khuzestan province to the water shortages started due to the amplifying water crisis.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

These protests<\/a>, which have now spread across Iran with calls for regime change, are the Iranian people\u2019s reaction to the regime\u2019s 40 years of oppression, plundering, corruption, and destroying the environment.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
