As Ebrahim Raisi<\/a>, the henchman of the 1988 massacre<\/a>, takes office tomorrow, the inhuman clerical regime hanged three prisoners named Sepehr Abbasnejad (from Urmia) and Eskander Zare\u2019 and Hamzeh Rezaei (from Salmas) in Urmia Prison, this morning, Monday, August 2, 2021.<\/p>\n

At the same time, many relatives and friends of the prisoners had gathered in front of Urmia Prison. The regime\u2019s repressive special units fearing the spread of the protest dispersed the crowd and confiscated the mobiles of several people.<\/p>\n

In addition, on Sunday, August 1, Mohammad Ali Sharifi, was hanged in Jiroft Prison after serving 16 years in prison. On the same day, two other prisoners, Hassan, 57, and Ali, 61, were executed in Mashhad Prison.<\/p>\n

These brought to at least 18, the number of prisoners executed since July 23. From June 19, when Ebrahim Raisi was installed as the regime’s new president and with the appointment of Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Eje’i as the Judiciary Chief, at least 62 prisoners have been executed, which is much more than the previous months.<\/p>\n

By intensifying executions and repression, the clerical regime tries in vain to prevent the outbreak of popular protests. But the Khuzestan uprising, and its spread to various cities, showed that repressive measures cannot undermine the people\u2019s resolve to overthrow the regime.<\/p>\n
