These protests initially began in <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/english.mojahedin.org\/i\/khuzestan-province-water-shortage-protests-20210726\" rel=\"noopener\">Khuzestan<\/a> province due to water shortages. Instead of addressing people\u2019s demands, the regime started oppressing people and imposed an internet <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/iran-protests\/iran-internet-censorship-plan-and-regimes-deadlock\/\" rel=\"noopener\">blackout<\/a>.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Despite the regime\u2019s oppression, protests continued to spread to other cities. Fearing other protests and the international community\u2019s reaction, the regime\u2019s parliament rapidly voted in favor of the internet censorship plan in a bid to control the explosive society.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The state-run media have constantly been warning about another uprising and regime\u2019s failure in controlling the society.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cPeople live to gain credibility, to evolve, not to just live at any cost and experience regression,\u201d wrote the state-run\u00a0Resalat\u00a0daily on August 1.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Resalat\u00a0added that the internet censorship plan \u201cis a great shock to one of the most influential sections of society, the youth.\u201d<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The regime is in a deadlock regarding the internet censorship plan. If it approves and implements it, there would be protests; if not, protests would continue and spread across the country.
