Ebrahim<\/a> Raisi was inaugurated<\/a> on August 5 while the social, economic, and international crises overshadow the entire regime.<\/p>\n

The regime\u2019s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, chose Raisi and his regime\u2019s next president<\/a> despite Raisi\u2019s dark record of human rights violations. Many international human rights organizations have called for his prosecution due to his role in the 1988 massacre<\/a> of 30,000 political prisoners.<\/p>\n

Raisi\u2019s inauguration happened days after dozens of protests across Iran. These protests, which first began in Khuzestan over water shortages, soon became political, with people chanting \u201cdeath to the dictator.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n

Raisi became the regime\u2019s president through an undemocratic process. The Iranian people boycotted the regime\u2019s sham election, and the mullahs\u2019 acknowledged they had recorded the lowest election turnout since 1979.<\/p>\n

Fearing people\u2019s reaction to Raisi\u2019s inauguration, the regime closed the capital, and the security forces were stationed on the streets.<\/p>\n

Raisi\u2019s inauguration ceremony also showed the regime\u2019s deadlock. Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, the Parliament Speaker, and Gholam-Hossain Mohseni-Ejei, the head of the Judiciary, only referred to the current economic and social crisis and did not offer any solution.<\/p>\n

Ghalibaf blamed the previous government\u2019s \u201cinefficiencies\u201d and advised Raisi to start the \u201cnew era of efficient management.\u201d Yet, Ghalibaf refused to say how Raisi could have an \u201cefficient management\u201d with the regime\u2019s institutionalized corruption?<\/p>\n

\n

Ejei<\/a> also suggested that Raisi should \u201ccontrol inflation, reduce unemployment and support people.\u201d How could someone like Raisi, who only knows \u201cexecution and prison,\u201d according to the regime\u2019s former president Hassan Rouhani, could support people. How could Raisi boost the Iranian economy while during his validation ceremony by Khamenei, acknowledged that the government has a \u201c450 trillion budget deficit,\u201d and how people are being crushed under \u201c44% inflation and 680% liquidity.\u201d<\/p>\n

Raisi\u2019s speech during the inauguration ceremony showed the depth of the regime\u2019s crisis. He blatantly said: \u201cI support global peace.\u201d Yet, he soon reiterated his support of terrorism around the globe and that \u201cno matter where they are, whether in the heart of Europe, the United States, Africa, Yemen, Syria, or Palestine,\u201d he would support the regime\u2019s terrorist proxy groups. While people in the region suffer from the regime\u2019s warmongering policies, and the Iranian people pay the price of the regime\u2019s proxy wars, Raisi claimed the mullahs\u2019 regime \u201ccreates security in the region.\u201d<\/p>\n

The U.S. and the European Union sanction Raisi for human rights violations, and his role in the 1988 massacre is undeniable. Yet, he blatantly called himself a \u201chuman rights defender\u201d during his inauguration.<\/p>\n

Raisi and other regime officials\u2019 remarks on August 5 reflect the regime\u2019s deadlock. The regime is in a critical situation and has no solution for the economic collapse, international isolation and social crisis, and restive society with its ongoing protests. In other words, Raisi is not the regime\u2019s savior, and his presidency is the last nail on the regime\u2019s coffin.<\/p>\n
