After recording a daily average of nearly 500 fatalities during the previous week, the regime\u2019s engineered death toll climbed to 620 on Sunday and 655 on Monday.<br \/>\nThe <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/english.mojahedin.org\/i\/primer-the-history-the-peoples-mojahedin-organization-iran\" rel=\"noopener\">People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran<\/a> (PMOI\/MEK) announced on Monday that the Covid-19 Death toll has surpassed 366,400.<br \/>\nThe <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/pmoi-mek\/\" rel=\"noopener\">MEK<\/a> has been collecting hospital records, morgue records, leaked government documents, and eyewitness statements regarding coronavirus outbreaks since the beginning of the pandemic, and has constantly shed light on the regime\u2019s inhumane Covid-19 policy.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Iran?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Iran<\/a> Coronavirus Update<\/p>\n<p>More than 366,400 people have died of the novel <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/coronavirus?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#coronavirus<\/a> in 547 cities checkered across all of Iran&#39;s 31 provinces, according to the Iranian opposition PMOI\/MEK.<\/p>\n<p>Full Report<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/kA2sNwh6kF\">https:\/\/t.co\/kA2sNwh6kF<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/827QCtFfur\">pic.twitter.com\/827QCtFfur<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; People&#39;s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI\/MEK) (@Mojahedineng) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Mojahedineng\/status\/1427376734656028672?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 16, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The Iranian regime is drastically underreporting the severity of the crisis, even as authorities begrudgingly embrace mitigation steps such as widespread lockdowns.<br \/>\nThese measures plainly reveal that the situation is trending in the opposite direction of what the regime intended. The regime started an inhumane Covid-19 policy, centered on denial and inaction, to quell Iran\u2019s restive society by using the deadly virus.<br \/>\nBut the details of the regime\u2019s recent measures indicate that the regime is already committed to further downplaying the crisis in the very near future. Newly announced lockdowns went into effect on Monday but are only scheduled to last six days \u2013 not even enough time to get an accurate count of new infections that began their incubation period just prior to the lockdowns.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/ncr-iran.us4.list-manage.com\/subscribe\/post?u=90c3ad44f96a18fb1fe0cf2e6&amp;id=b561586c73\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Weekly-Signe-up-logo-1\" class=\"size-full wp-image-219239 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Weekly-Signe-up-logo-1.png\" alt=\"Weekly-Signe-up-logo-1\" width=\"250\" height=\"83\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nThe regime officially announced the virus has reached Iran at least a month after the first instance of community spread of the novel coronavirus were recorded in the country. This discrepancy goes a long way toward explaining the persistent gap between official death tolls and those recorded by independent sources since the regime\u2019s leadership insisted the country had only just begun registering deaths at a time when there had already been hundreds. With Iran currently completing its presidential transition, much of the personnel in government ministries are likely to be rotated out, and some officials in the Health Ministry have evidently responded to their imminent job change by opening up about some of the regime\u2019s misdeeds with regard to coronavirus management.<br \/>\nAmong the most notable of this commentary is that offered recently by Dr. Alireza Zali, head of Tehran\u2019s Covid-19 committee, who criticized the relative lack of access to vaccines and placed the blame for that situation on the regime\u2019s policies and not on US sanctions, as leading regime authorities have been wont to do. Ironically, the regime\u2019s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has led the way in claiming that those sanctions prevent the import of life-saving vaccines, even after he personally banned the import of vaccine groups made in \u201cenemy\u201d states such as the United States and Britain.<br \/>\nIn reality, US sanctions do not apply to vaccines or other legitimate medicines, as the law specifically designates humanitarian exceptions. While the death toll has declined in other countries due to vaccination, the death toll has risen to almost double in Iran because the regime\u2019s supreme leader Ali Khamenei has banned importing American and European vaccines. Iran has long been recognized as the worst-affected country in the Middle East. The Iranian regime first denied the covid-19 outbreak in Iran, and when it was not deniable, the regime did not allocate enough resources to confront the pandemic. Although the regime\u2019s Supreme Leader and the Revolutionary Guards collectively control hundreds of billions of dollars in financial assets, virtually none of these have been released to support the people in the face of the pandemic or to make it possible for the impoverished Iranian people to stay home and avoid work for long enough to flatten the curve. Furthermore, as vaccines began to come available, the IRGC and Iranian regime authorities-linked companies have taken the control of vaccine distribution in their hands. A member of Iranian regime parliament presidium revealed 200,000 vaccine doses have disappeared and are being sold in the black market. Even some state media outlets have reported that individual doses have appeared on the IRGC-dominated black market with price tags up to 2,800 US dollars. The Guards are therefore making a profit on both wholesale distribution and individual sales. In this situation, the regime refrains from paying low-income nurses\u2019 salaries or facilitating their basic needs. Many reports indicate that Iran is witnessing the series of suicides and migration among nurses. *** Content on the PMOI\/MEK&#039;s official YouTube channel are not subject to copyright if the source is mentioned ***\"><\/div><\/div><div class=\"lL\" style=\"max-width:100%;width:853px;margin:5px;\"><\/div><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">As Iran has been setting its latest records for new infections and fatalities authorities have been scaling back their enforcement of the ban fearing people\u2019s backlash. The regime has lately imported a number of doses based on European designs but manufactured elsewhere. As recently as the first week of August, however, the regime was still rejecting donations of vaccines that came directly from the US and Britain.<br \/>\nSuch arbitrary selectiveness threatens to keep the pace of vaccinations low after a lengthy period of time in which Iranian entities under-delivered on their promises of a domestically made alternative.<br \/>\nTo date, only about three percent of Iran\u2019s population has been fully vaccinated, and the beneficiaries of early efforts have disproportionately been wealthy and well-connected individuals including government officials and affiliates of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, which controls many of the private companies that have been tasked with purchasing and distributing doses.<br \/>\nThe regime\u2019s new president <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/who-is-ebrahim-raisi-ncr-iran\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Ebrahim Raisi,<\/a> the henchman of the 1988 massacre, appointed Mohammad Mokhber, head of the \u201c<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/irannewsupdate.com\/news\/economy\/execution-of-imam-khomeinis-order-eiko-a-pillar-of-khameneis-economic-empire-in-iran\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Execution of Khomeini\u2019s Order<\/a> (EIKO),\u201d Khamenei\u2019s major plundering conglomerates, as his first vice-president. EIKO was in charge of producing the so-called domestic vaccine and plundered billions of dollars in this process.<br \/>\nThe regime\u2019s vaccination scam has led to a situation in which many of the more effective vaccines are ending up on the black market with price tags of up to 1,350 dollars. This would be wildly unaffordable to ordinary Iranians under the best of circumstances.<br \/>\nThe overlapping crises in the economy and public health indicate that authorities are putting their own preferences well ahead of the basic needs of the Iranian people. The IRGC and Supreme Leader Khamenei have been refusing to release any of the hundreds of billions of dollars under their control in order to help the population survive through more thorough lockdowns and to obtain the vaccines that, according to Zali, the authorities declined to purchase simply because of the cost.<br \/>\nOn August 15, the state-run daily newspaper Resalat published an editorial that warned about the impact of such revelations on public morale. In lieu of openly acknowledging the validity of that public\u2019s response, however, the article framed the regime\u2019s errors as topics that might be exploited by \u201cenemies\u201d to \u201cput the government at the forefront of the issue of increasing the number of the Covid-19 deaths in Iran and consequently blame the Supreme Leader for these casualties.\u201d<br \/>\nIn the wake of Iran\u2019s presidential transition, the population will rise up on its own accord to stage the next in a series of movements for regime change which date back at least to the end of 2017.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Iranian regime&rsquo;s Health Ministry recorded two consecutive record-high Covid-19 death tolls on Sunday and Monday.
