Thursday marked the thirty-sixth session<\/a> of the trial of Hamid\u00a0Noury, an Iranian prisons official charged for his role in the 1988 massacre<\/a> of over\u00a030,000\u00a0political prisoners in\u00a0Gohardasht\u00a0prison.\u00a0Noury\u00a0was incarcerated in 2019 by Swedish authorities. On Wednesday, his trial was\u00a0held in\u00a0Albania, where survivors of the 1988 massacre\u00a0began\u00a0giving their testimonies. Per the prosecutor\u2019s request, the trial location was transferred to Albania, where members of the Mujahedin-e Khalq (MEK)<\/a> reside. The MEK members form the majority of the 1988 massacre victims.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n During the second session<\/a> of\u00a0Noury\u2019s\u00a0trial in\u00a0District Court of Durres, Albania, MEK member Majid Saheb Jam, who served nearly 17 years in Iranian prisons, testified. Saheb Jam is one of\u00a0the\u00a0plaintiffs of\u00a0Noury\u2019s\u00a0case.\u00a0 Saheb Jam said in his testimony that he was transferred from\u00a0Evin\u00a0prison to\u00a0Gohardasht\u00a0prison in 1988 and witnessed the crimes committed by regime officials, including\u00a0Noury.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Saheb Jam testified that upon his arrival\u00a0to\u00a0Gohardasht, he was tortured along with several other prisoners. \u201cThey brought us to a corridor, a ward that was almost empty, and the guards stood in lines to form a tunnel for the prisoners,\u201d he said,\u00a0adding they were beaten with cables and sticks as they passed the human tunnel.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n According to Saheb Jam, Hamid Noury was also among the torturers.
