In view of the critical security situation in Iraq, he called on the British government and the Iraqi authorities to guarantee safety of the residents of Ashraf City, northwest Baghdad. <\/p>\n<p>He also underlined the responsibility of the UNHCR in these circumstances and called on the world body to take a more active role. <\/p>\n<p>Lord Corbett spoke to the INTV after addressing participants in the sit-in outside the UNHCR headquarters which has been going on for just over 100 days since August. The aim of the sit-in is to get the UNHCR to reaffirm the refugee status of the PMOI members in Iraq and safeguard their rights in Iraq.
