During this court session, two explosive experts testified.\u00a0The experts\u2019 testimonies shed light on shocking dimensions of the possible casualties if the bomb had exploded.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Thursday\u2019s court session again underlined what inhumane and criminal motives this foiled bombing had. The operation was ordered by the Iranian regime\u2019s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, and the target was Mrs. <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.maryam-rajavi.com\/en\/biography\" rel=\"noopener\">Maryam Rajavi<\/a>, the Iranian Resistance\u2019s president-elect as well as other participants in the \u201cFree Iran\u201d gathering.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">According to expert testimonies on Thursday, the regime\u2019s explosive experts made this bomb in Iran. Iran\u2019s diplomat-terrorist <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/iran-envoy-drops-appeal-prison-belgium-over-bomb-plot-2021-05-05\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Assadollah Assadi<\/a> had transferred the bomb from Iran to Austria using a commercial airliner on June 22, 2018. Assadi had delivered the bomb to Nasimeh Na\u2019ami and Amir Sadouni on June 28, 2018. The panel also discussed the role of the Iranian regime\u2019s embassies in espionage and terror activities. Further details were provided about Assadollah Assadi, an Iranian diplomat who was involved in a foiled terror plot against the Free Iran Rally in June, and Reza Amiri Moghaddam, the head of the Iranian regime\u2019s European terror activities in the Intelligence ministry.\"><\/div><\/div><div class=\"lL\" style=\"max-width:100%;width:853px;margin:5px;\"><\/div><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>General Overview of the Technical Assessment of the Bomb<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">1-\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The bomb had a professional structure that indicates that it was designed by explosive experts inside Iran.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">2-\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The bomb contained 596 grams of TATP <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/english.mojahedin.org\/i\/iran-terrorist-diplomat-carried-explosive-material-inside-austrian-airline\" rel=\"noopener\">explosive material<\/a>. Its dimension was 832 cubic centimeters, as determined by accurate calculations by Belgian police experts.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">3-\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Contrary to the defendants\u2019 claims, the structure of the bomb was designed to increase the amount of shrapnel propelled by the explosion and add to its lethal effect.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">4-\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The bomb partially exploded while being defused, injuring a police officer who was standing 80 meters away.\u00a0 Had the bomb fully exploded, the extent of the damage could have been much greater.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">5-\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 According to the accurate assessment of police experts, the blast would have been lethal for up to 53 meters.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Therefore, since the targeted venue was crowded, the bomb\u2019s explosion could have resulted in hundreds of deaths and injuries. The casualties would have increased due to the resulting chaos and people\u2019s attempt to leave the place. The bombing could have turned into the greatest humanitarian catastrophe in Europe in the 21st century.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Testimony of Explosive Experts<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">During the appeal of three of Assadollah Assadi\u2019s accomplices, the court heard from two explosives experts about the extent of the destructive effects of the bomb.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Refusing to appeal the verdict, Assadollah Assadi has practically accepted the 20-year prison sentence and did not attend the previous hearings. His associates tried to downplay their role in the conspiracy by appealing, and they even claimed that the bomb they were trying to detonate did not have much destructive power. The jail time requested for the three other terrorists (Assadi\u2019s hired accomplices) were 18 years for Amir Saadouni and Nasimeh Naami, and 15 years for Mehrdad Arefani. The prosecutors also requested the latter three to be stripped of their Belgian citizenships. The most important target in this foiled bomb plot was Iranian opposition President Maryam Rajavi, and Saadouni and Naami were told to install the bomb as close as possible to her, the prosecutors emphasized. All the collected evidence indicate Assadi commanded this bombing operation, the prosecutors highlighted, adding he should be condemned for our own security. Assadi played the main role in the attack targeting the Iranian opposition People&#039;s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI\/MEK), the prosecutors continued. Describing how Assadi was arrested in Germany, the prosecutors underscored he enjoys no diplomatic immunity. The plot for mass killing people is the reason why we are resorting to international law to deny him of diplomatic immunity. The Iranian regime not permitting Assadi to attend the first session of this trial, cooperate and answer questions indicates that Tehran was behind this terrorist operation. Since Assadi was working with the regime\u2019s Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS), one cannot claim this operation was a one-man initiative and the entire regime was involved in this plot. Saadouni began cooperating with the MOIS back in 2004 for money and the pressure placed on his family. Saadouni and Naami significantly increased their ties with the MOIS from 2007 onward. From 2015 the couple is linked with Assadi under the alias \u201cDaniel\u201d and they were in constant contact with him until their arrest on June 30, 2018. The two had constantly travelled to Iran during this period and had met with Assadi in various countries such as Germany, Italy and Austria, receiving money for information. The places of their meetings were always specified by Assadi. Naami was fully trained on how to use the bomb, according to the prosecutors. Assadi went back to Iran several times during his effort to prepare all the necessities for this operation. Strong evidence in this regard was found in his vehicle and mobile phone indicating he went back to Iran once a month facilitating his preparations for the 2018 plot. On March 19, 2018, Naami and Saadouni began exchanging phone calls and emails with Assadi. Their last meeting was on June 28 at a pizzeria in Luxembourg where Naami received the bomb, a new SIM card and 18,000 euros, placing them all in her bag and receiving written training on how to use the bomb. Based on the indictment Mehrdad Arefani began cooperating with and was recruited by the MOIS when he was arrested in Iran back in 1981. Arefani was in constant contact with Assadi, obtaining footages and using equipment to gather information about the MEK for the MOIS. Arefani met with Assadi in various countries and received money from him. Arefani was missioned to control Naami and Saadouni properly carrying out the bomb plot at the scene. Assadi was waiting for Arefani to provide reports and control the scene through him. He also noted that the parts of the bomb were designed to increase casualties and that even the blast wave could have been deadly.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Testimony of an Explosives Specialist from Belgium<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Another expert from Belgium stated that the bomb was a professional bomb. He said that the camera of the robot used in defusing the bomb was destroyed, even though the robot was designed to resist explosions. Besides its camera, one of the robot\u2019s handles has also been destroyed and cannot be repaired.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Mark this date: Feb 4. Had it fully exploded, there could have been much more damage. The Belgian expert stated that they have data and evidence leading them to conclude that the bomb was professionally made. He said the materials used showed the designers knew what they were doing.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u201cFor example, the battery was placed in a specific way, so all components be together. They would have been destroyed during the explosion, and this is another sign that <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thenationalnews.com\/world\/europe\/2021\/11\/17\/iranian-spymaster-assadollah-assadis-accomplices-appeal-against-bomb-plot-convictions\/\" rel=\"noopener\">the bomb<\/a> was professionally made,\u201d the expert noted.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">When the judge asked the expert whether he can confirm the bomb was professionally made, he said: \u201cYes. The one who created the bomb was an expert. This is true about the remote control. One could have mistaken it with a garage door opener remote. It was not easy to identify the remote.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The bomb contained 596 grams of TATP explosive material. Its dimension was 832 cubic centimeters, as determined by accurate calculations by Belgian police experts.\u00a0The Belgian expert underlined that once the bomb was exploded, it would have created a fireball, burning everything in its surroundings. \u201cThe way we calculate is that we have software that calculates the numbers, and we have a table that the US military uses,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">He also said that if the bomb was exploded, it could have a lethal effect in a radius of 53 meters. The expert also emphasized that a police officer standing 80 meters away from the bomb was injured. This is while the bomb did not actually explode.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>How was the bomb carried and concealed?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">According to the documents in the file, the bomb was embedded in the lining of a women\u2019s bag carried by Nasimeh Na\u2019ami.
