Young people have been organized into \u201cResistance Units\u201d and play a defining role in the uprising against the regime.<\/p>\n<p>Khamenei said, \u201cThe true problem is that the country\u2019s youth believe there are no solutions.\u201d The ruling elite believe that Iran\u2019s young people are rebellious in nature and fear their pursuit of liberation from dictatorship, as they increasingly join the Resistance movement.<\/p>\n<p>The regime\u2019s campaign to demonize the opposition \u2014the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/pmoi-mek\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI\/MEK)<\/a> under the leadership of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/massoud-rajavi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Massoud Rajavi <\/a>and NCRI President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/maryam-rajavi\/14237-maryam-rajavi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Maryam Rajavi<\/a> \u2014 has failed. Iran\u2019s youth know that the Resistance is part of Iran\u2019s social fabric and a movement seeking justice for over 30,000 political prisoners massacred during the summer of 1988.<\/p>\n<p>Khamenei\u2019s speech lauded the power of his regime, and claimed it continues to enjoy popular support. He called Iran\u2019s youth the \u201cdriving force\u201d of his regime. Khamenei failed to mention that over the past four decades his regime executed tens of thousands of youths.<\/p>\n<p>However, he acknowledged that he is facing a dilemma of defections among his regime\u2019s supporters, and stated that the regime\u2019s enemy is not the U.S., but the PMOI\/MEK, who are active and present \u201camong us\u201d inside Iran.<\/p>\n<p>Khamenei admitted that his regime\u2019s survival faces \u201ca treacherous road\u201d full of \u201cobstacles\u201d, and is in need of a major \u201cintellectual and practical overhaul.\u201d He described senior regime officials as \u201ctired, out of steam and lacking any spirit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Khamenei added, \u201cWe have economic problems. We have an economy relying on oil, which itself is a major problem. We also lack a culture of cutting back on consumption.\u201d Clearly, facing the crippling sanctions scheduled for early November, are a major concern for Iran\u2019s Supreme Leader.<\/p>\n<p>Poverty and poor living conditions were also topics for discussion, but not his own enormous assets, or those of senior Iranian regime officials.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding the media, he said, \u201cOur dissidents are using the media to influence public opinion. The media is an important tool and if the enemy gets a hold of it, it is a dangerous tool.\u201d The regime has thousands of state-controlled media outlets versus just a few belonging to the opposition. This is an indication of the ways in which a small number of media outlets are able to neutralize the regime\u2019s media machine, and are now becoming the voice of the Iranian people, encouraging the world to support the Iranian people and their organized resistance.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the struggle between the regime and the Resistance movement, strong links have been established with the people of Iran through \u201cnetworks of social media and other outlets.\u201d This will likely result in the people of Iran joining the PMOI\/MEK Resistance Units in an imminent confrontation against the dictatorship.<\/p>\n<p>There is no cure for the crises, ordinary Iranians continue to protest. Khamenei has already threatened the Iranian people with further crackdowns.
