A Trip to Iraq for Selling Kidneys<\/h3>\n

Hossein Bigleri, head of the Association for Support of Kidney Patients in Kermanshah said that some Iranians have traveled to Iraq to sell their kidneys.<\/p>\n

“Some Iranian citizens volunteer to donate kidneys to Iraqis and sell them at a higher price in US dollars,” Bigleri told the state-run Khabar Online.<\/p>\n

“They say we’re going to Iraq to sell our kidneys. We assume that Iraqis come to Iran and find someone who wants to sell their kidneys, but since organ transplants for foreign nationals are forbidden in Iran, people go to Iraq,” Bigleri said. “Sellers are invited to Iraq and buyers also bring US dollars and the operation takes place in that country.”<\/p>\n

Due to extreme poverty in Iran under the clerical regime, selling organs has become a regular source of income for people who struggle to feed their families.<\/p>\n

On January 13, Asian and world wrestling champion Mohsen Ghasemi passed away at the age of 31.<\/p>\n

In February 2020, while staying at a camp in Borujerd for drug rehabilitation, he was attacked by the regime’s security forces and suffered a concussion and he consequently went into a coma.<\/p>\n

“After being beaten and going into a coma, Mohsen woke up after about two months, and due to the high cost of treatment, we transferred him from a private hospital to the Taleghani State Hospital,” his father has told. “They did not take good care of my son. And after a long while in coma, he died.”<\/p>\n
