By the most conservative estimates, the COVID-19 death toll in 547 cities across Iran has reached a staggering half a million now, the People’s Mojahedin Organization<\/a> of Iran (PMOI\/MEK) announced today, January 25, 2022. The number of victims in Tehran has reached 116,785, Khorasan Razavi 40,260, Isfahan 34,690, Khuzestan 30,170, Fars 18,950, West Azerbaijan 18,858, Mazandaran 18,140, Gilan 17,320, East Azerbaijan 17,273, Lorestan 16,515, Alborz 14,553, Sistan And Baluchistan 13,810, Kerman 13,492, Qom 13,450, Golestan 10,870, Kermanshah 9,354, Hamedan 9,258, Central Province 9,138, Yazd 8,288, Hormozgan 8,275, Kurdistan 8,247, Semnan 6,590, North Khorasan 6,433, Ardabil 6,338, Qazvin 5,889, Bushehr 5,574, Zanjan 4,830, Ilam 4,778, South Khorasan 4,441, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari 3,885, and Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad 3,789.<\/p>\n

While Iran’s population is slightly more than 1% of the world’s population, the COVID-19 death toll in Iran is 9% of the total number of victims worldwide. This is the direct result of the clerical regime\u2019s criminal and plundering policies, particularly the regime\u2019s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and the Revolutionary Guards, who tried to stem the tide of large-scale uprisings by pursuing the strategy of mass human casualties.<\/p>\n

Fearing its impact on the sham parliamentary election and the annual charade on the anniversary of the 1979 revolution, this horrific crime began with the cover-up, lying, deception, and delaying the announcement on the emergence of the Coronavirus in Iran for several weeks. Rouhani claimed on March 31, 2020, “We found out about the spread of Coronavirus in Iran on February 19, 2020, … and it was publicly announced to the people (and) we did not delay even for one day!” Khamenei claimed on March 3, “We, our officials, reported with clarity and honesty from the first day (of the spread of the virus) with transparency.” However, the documents revealed by the Security and Counter-Terrorism Committee of the National Council of Resistance<\/a> of Iran (NCRI) on April 3, 2020, revealed Coronavirus deaths in December 2019 and January 2020. According to the state-run daily, Jahan-e Sanat, on August 8, 2020, the regime health experts later stated that the first Coronavirus death occurred in the third week of December 2019, but that the regime had kept it secret for political and security reasons. The regime continued Mahan Air (IRGC affiliated Airline) flights to and from China for a long time, despite protests by health experts. By the end of March, Mahan Air had at least 55 flights to various cities in China.<\/p>\n
