Nationwide protest of nurses and medical staff against temporary contracts, poor working conditions<\/h3>\n

Today, January 30, 2022, for the second day running, teachers in 125 cities in 30 provinces staged a sit-in to protest their harsh living conditions and low salaries and the state\u2019s failure to meet their demands. The protest and gathering of teachers will continue tomorrow.<\/p>\n

The protesters were holding banners that read: “Imprisoned teachers must be freed,” “We won\u2019t tolerate so much oppression and discrimination,” “Teachers despise discrimination,” “So much talking by the state, yet no action,” “We have only heard empty promises, we haven\u2019t seen justice,” “livelihood, dignity is our inalienable right,” and “free education is the right of Iranian students.\u201d<\/p>\n

On Saturday, nurses and health workers in at least 15 cities rallied in front of provincial offices, medical universities and regime’s health centers to protest the dire living conditions, lack of formal employment, and forced labor of nurses, particularly in the midst of the Coronavirus pandemic, under the guise of temporary, 89-day contracts. These protests were held in Tehran, Isfahan, Mashhad, Shiraz, Ilam, Pol Dokhtar, Asadabad, Bukan, Lasht-e Nesha (Rasht), Firuzabad, Yasuj, Rostam, Kavar, Rudsar, Kermanshah, Bushehr, Urmia, and Sanandaj.<\/p>\n

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Iranian Resistance of Iran (NCRI), hailed teachers, nurses, and health care workers who have protested against the clerical regime\u2019s oppression, discrimination, and repression. She said: Poverty, discrimination, and repression will continue as long as the religious dictatorship exists. The suffering and poverty will only end by establishing democracy and people’s sovereignty.<\/p>\n
