but that the 2018 protests on the other hand, had \u201cmuch deeper\u201d roots of social nature.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p>Rouhani&#8217;s Advisor Says &#8216;s Street Protests Will Continue<br \/>An adviser to Iran\u2019s President Rouhani said that there was still potential for Iran protests because the cause of the protests still existed.  <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/cdDRivwkio\">pic.twitter.com\/cdDRivwkio<\/a><\/p>\n<p> \u2014 NCRI-FAC (@iran_policy) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/iran_policy\/status\/1084579246557880322?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 13, 2019<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Back in the 90\u2019s, few protests took place in Mashhad, Qazvin, and Eslamshahr; in which many were either arrested or killed by the Police Force.<\/p>\n<p>Before Rouhani\u2019s advisor ever commented in this regard, other government officials had already warned of the potential continuity of protests; for instance, Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli, who acknowledged that the roots of people\u2019s frustration are alive and will at any point \u201ctrigger a massive explosive of protests\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>According to Ashna, the purpose of last year\u2019s protests was to \u201csubvert the government\u201d but that \u201cit soon became clear that the subversion of the government requires the subversion of the entire system\u201d; emphasising that \u201csome people assume that they can subvert one without the other; but last year\u2019s protests proved that the government and the system are both in the same line\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>One of the most commonly used slogans in last year\u2019s protests was \u201cthings are over for your fundamentalists and reformists\u201d, which targeted both political parties.<\/p>\n<p>Back then, the Deputy Interior Ministry of Security and Police Affairs (Hossein Zolfaghari) had acknowledged that the protests were \u201ctargeting all political parties within the country\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Over the months, there\u2019s also been various online campaigns amongst Iranian protestors, one of which was known as \u201cBarandazm\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>According to a senior member of the Mojahedin of the Islamic Revolution of Iran Organisation (July 7, 2018), the only \u201ceffective solution\u201d for all Iranians is the subversion of Ali Khamenei (Iran\u2019s supreme leader), adding that the so called reformists \u201ccan\u2019t be actual reformists\u201d when they\u2019re \u201ckeeping the corrupt system alive\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The protests that we witnessed last year, were developed very quickly and spread over more than 100 cities of Iran.<\/p>\n<p>In December protests, dozens of protestors were killed by the security forces, and at least 5000 people (more than 400 from Tehran) were also arrested.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&zwnj;By&nbsp;Amir Taghati The adviser of Iran&rsquo;s president believes that the city protests will continue for as long as their causes remain unresolved.
