\nRegime\u2019s Theatrics in Abadan Fail<\/h3>\n

On Sunday night, the people of Abadan disrupted and turned a ridiculous mourning ceremony put on by the regime into a protest and jeered the agents present on the scene while chanting, “Shame on you.\u201d<\/p>\n

To counter the widespread hatred and disgust nationwide after the tragedy caused by the collapse of the ten-story building, Metropole in Abadan, after a six-day delay, on Sunday, the clerical regime staged public mourning ceremonies in various cities, including Abadan. However, the brave people of Abadan disrupted the show and continued their protests and rallies paying homage to their loved ones. Large delegations of people from Shadegan and Mahshahr went to Abadan to express their sympathy and marched in protest against the regime\u2019s corruption and crimes.<\/p>\n

On Sunday night, the people of Masjed Soleyman and Kazerun also demonstrated in support of Abadan and confronted the regime\u2019s repressive forces.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The protest in Abadan carried on for the seventh consecutive night, and protesters chanted, “We are all warriors, let’s fight and we will fight back,” “I will kill, whoever killed my brother,” and “Basiji, get lost.\u201d The repressive forces fired tear gas at the people and fired a shotgun, injuring many protesters.<\/p>\n

In recent days, instead of dispatching rescue and relief teams, the regime has sent Basij thugs and Special Units to Abadan and other protesting cities and slowed or shut down the Internet to quell the uprisings. According to the state-run daily, Entekhab, on May 28, 2022, IRGC\u2019s Special Units commander Brig. Gen Hassan Karami,, brazenly claimed, “The presence of the Special Units is only \u00a0meant to provide comfort and security to the revolutionary people of Abadan and to help those injured.\u201d<\/p>\n

On the same day, according to another state-run daily, Arman, Mohammad Mokhber, Ebrahim Raisi\u2019s first deputy, inevitably admitted: “There has been widespread corruption between the builder, the contractor, the supervisor and the licensing bodies, in the metropole case.” Jalal Rashidi Kouchi, a regime parliament deputy, also acknowledged that “Abadan Municipality was a co-owner of the metropole, and there was a conflict of interest. They changed the license from four to 10 floors.\u201d<\/p>\n

On Saturday night, May 28, protests were also held in Tehran and many other cities, including Andimeshk, Shahr-e-Rey, Qom, Ahvaz (Malashie), Behbahan, Susangard, and Shush. Angry residents took to the streets and chanted “Abadan is not alone,” “Condolences to Abadan,” “Khamenei is a murderer, his rule is illegitimate,” and “Death to the dictator.”<\/p>\n

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi<\/a>, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), hailed the heroic resistance of the people of Abadan and said: The continuation of Abadan’s uprising in the face of bullets and teargas manifests the Iranian nation\u2019s rage against the mullahs. Today, Abadan is the heart of Iran, and the cities rise to defend it one after another.<\/p>\n
