{"id":259571,"date":"2022-05-31T19:24:41","date_gmt":"2022-05-31T17:24:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/?p=259571"},"modified":"2023-02-09T15:12:10","modified_gmt":"2023-02-09T14:12:10","slug":"irans-failed-saber-rattling-shows-the-regimes-weakness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/terrorism-a-fundamentalism\/irans-failed-saber-rattling-shows-the-regimes-weakness\/","title":{"rendered":"Iran\u2019s Failed Saber-rattling Shows the Regime\u2019s Weakness"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-259574\" title=\"iran-missile-city0\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/iran-missile-city0.jpeg\" alt=\"iran-missile-city0\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/iran-missile-city0.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/iran-missile-city0-300x200.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/iran-missile-city0-768x512.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/iran-missile-city0-150x100.jpeg 150w, https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/iran-missile-city0-696x464.jpeg 696w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On May 27, Iran\u2019s state TV <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hamshahrionline.ir\/news\/679520\/\" rel=\"noopener\">aired a propaganda<\/a> film showing its so-called \u201c313 strategic drone headquarters.\u201d\u00a0 Tehran\u2019s saber-rattling came amid ongoing protests in many Iranian cities and several operations against regime officials and military sites and was intended to project a hollow show of power.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Hours before Tehran\u2019s ridiculous theatrics, many Iranian outlets reported that Mohammad Bagheri, the regime\u2019s Armed Forces Chief of Staff, had visited the \u201csecretive\u201d and highly \u201csecured\u201d drone headquarters.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">These reports bragged about a drone nest \u201chundreds of kilometers underground.\u201d The regime\u2019s state TV also acknowledged this base is in \u201cnorthwest Iran, and our cameraman was not allowed to enter the base.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">But some state media have criticized what they called a \u201cclumsy\u201d report that inadvertently \u201cshared information about the drone headquarters whereabouts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWe flew from the first base of Air Force. I was not aware of the existence [of the drone nest], and they told me after a few minutes that I should continue the path blindfolded,\u201d he boasted.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He then showed the helicopter&#8217;s flight path and said that \u201cafter about 40 minutes of flight, they reached the underground base.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-259577\" title=\"iran-missile-city3\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/iran-missile-city3.webp\" alt=\"iran-missile-city3\" width=\"690\" height=\"295\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/iran-missile-city3.webp 690w, https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/iran-missile-city3-300x128.webp 300w, https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/iran-missile-city3-150x64.webp 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The state-run Khabarfori website criticized this report in an article, \u201cIRIB\u2019s Intelligence mistakes reveal the whereabouts of Army\u2019s clandestine base.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThere are two big mistakes in the IRIB news that have revealed the location of the base. The reporter mentions a 40-minute flight from Kermanshah Air Base to the destination, according to which the relative coordinates of the base can be found,\u201d reads the report.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe more significant mistake is the name on a fire extinguisher that revealed the base&#8217;s location, the city of Dalahou in Kermanshah,\u201d the report added.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-259579\" title=\"iran-missile-city\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/iran-missile-city.webp\" alt=\"iran-missile-city\" width=\"690\" height=\"391\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/iran-missile-city.webp 690w, https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/iran-missile-city-300x170.webp 300w, https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/iran-missile-city-150x85.webp 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In addition to the Khabarfouri website, many Iranian users on Twitter guessed the location of the UAV headquarters, given the information published by the regime.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">One user underlined that based on the Bell214 helicopter\u2019s average speed, which took the reporter to the base, \u201cThe so-called secret base is about 102 km away from the 1<sup>st<\/sup> Air Base in Kermanshah.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The reporter said he had prepared this video on May 25. Yet, Photos of Bagheri&#8217;s visit revealed another error.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The photos&#8217; metadata provided to the news agencies showed they were taken in two stages. Once, single images of the UAVs were taken on May 18. The next day, at 10:00 AM, the rest of the photos presented by Iran&#8217;s state TV were taken. As a result, the approximate time for the information to be prepared by the army&#8217;s public relations officials has been exposed. The photos\u2019 metadata leave no doubt that the entire report was a clumsy pre-staged show.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">There is a chance that the regime released this information on purpose as a part of its counterintelligence operation, especially after recent attacks on its facilities and the assassination of its top commanders.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">But understanding the regime\u2019s current situation removes any doubt that in any scenario, this saber-rattling shows the mullahs\u2019 weakness and is a humiliating debacle.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Protests are spreading across the country due to the regime\u2019s institutionalized corruption, ineptitude, and mismanagement. While Iranians cannot make a living, the ruling theocracy squanders billions of dollars on its warmongering and terrorism by actions such as producing UAVs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Iranian Resistance <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/terrorism-a-fundamentalism\/iran-the-role-of-drones-in-the-quds-forces-incitement-of-regional-war-and-terrorism\/\">revealed the regime\u2019s clandestine massive UAV program<\/a> in October 2021. According to this report, \u201cThe Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Quds Force is chiefly using various unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for its terrorist operations as well as for supplying its proxies in the region. To an extent, the regime is trying to compensate for its outdated and decrepit Air Force with this technology.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">While Tehran\u2019s terrorist threats should be addressed seriously, the regime\u2019s <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/terrorism-a-fundamentalism\/details-of-irans-drone-program-reinforces-need-to-hold-the-regime-accountable\/\" rel=\"noopener\">UAVs program<\/a> indicates Tehran\u2019s weak Air Force from a mere military perspective.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The regime\u2019s recent hollow show of power is primarily meant to boost the morale of its demoralized forces, as they see a volatile society and another uprising on the horizon. Besides, the recent attacks in the heart of the capital against the regime officials and military sites reveal the real face of a weak regime and the many cracks in its security apparatus.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Yet, as the regime sees its end near, it clings to anything to secure its grip on power. So, the threats of this wounded beast should not be underestimated. Tehran used billions of dollars it earned through sanction relief to expand its military and terrorist capabilities. Iran\u2019s ruling theocracy has expropriated the national wealth to export terrorism and chaos abroad to prolong its life.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As the Iranian Resistance had proposed in October, \u201cAny dealings with the regime in Tehran by all Western sides, especially after the ascendance of Raisi, must end. All activities, including production, use, and research on drones and the regime\u2019s missile program, must be included in the demands.
