But beyond this deal, the Europeans are trying to facilitate profiting from Iran\u2019s oil and gas,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rfi.fr\/fa\/%D8%A7%DB%8C%D8%B1%D8%A7%D9%86\/20220702-%D8%A7%D9%82%D8%AF%D8%A7%D9%85%D8%A7%D8%AA-%D8%A8%D9%84%DA%98%DB%8C%DA%A9-%D8%AF%D8%B1-%D8%AC%D9%87%D8%AA-%D8%A2%D8%B2%D8%A7%D8%AF-%DA%A9%D8%B1%D8%AF%D9%86-%D8%A7%D8%B3%D8%AF%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%84%D9%87-%D8%A7%D8%B3%D8%AF%DB%8C%D8%9B-%D8%A7%D8%B1%D9%88%D9%BE%D8%A7%DB%8C%DB%8C%D8%A7%D9%86-%D8%A8%D9%87-%D9%81%DA%A9%D8%B1-%D9%86%D9%81%D8%AA-%D9%88-%DA%AF%D8%A7%D8%B2-%D8%A7%DB%8C%D8%B1%D8%A7%D9%86-%D8%A7%D9%86%D8%AF\">Radio France International (RFI) Persian-language website<\/a> wrote on July 1.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.eu\/article\/belgium-send-convicted-terrorist-iran\/\">Politico also highlighted this fact<\/a>, underlining that this treaty \u201ccomes as European leaders are panicking over energy prices and are increasingly eager to repair relations with Iran in the hope that the Islamic Republic can resume its role as a major supplier of oil and gas.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sacrificing human rights and other democratic values that Europe has long cherished could set a dangerous precedent, but is this the first time?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Since 1980, France has become the roaming ground for the regime\u2019s terrorists. In 1982, the Lebanese terrorist Anis al-Naqqash was caught red-handed trying to assassinate the last Prime Minister of the Shah. In 1982, Tehran-backed Hezbollah in Lebanon abducted 106 foreign nationals, including 16 French citizens, called the \u201cLebanon hostage crisis\u201d that lasted for years. This crisis occurred shortly after terrorist attacks by Tehran\u2019s proxies in Beirut killed 241 Americans and 58 Frenchmen.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.idf.il\/fr\/minisites\/hezbollah\/1985-1986-la-vague-terroriste-du-hezbollah-en-france\/\">Between 1985 and 1986<\/a>, two terrorists, Fouad Ali Saleh and Lofti Ben Khala, and their group conducted several terrorist attacks in France, killing 14 and injuring hundreds. Both terrorists were arrested in 1986 and admitted they had been in close contact with Iran\u2019s Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS) and the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">To secure the release of its hostages, Paris chose appeasement over firmness and entered into negotiations with Tehran. It accepted the Iranian regime\u2019s demands to mount pressure on the Iranian opposition in France But that did not prevent Tehran from wreaking havoc in France.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In 1987, evidence confirmed the role of Iran\u2019s embassy in France and its so-called translator, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtoninstitute.org\/policy-analysis\/long-shadow-khobar-towers-dilemmas-us-and-iran\">Vahid Gordji,<\/a> in the attacks, prompting judge Gilles Boulougne to issue an arrest warrant for Gordji. Gordji took refuge in the embassy and was put under surveillance.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Meanwhile, in Tehran, the IRGC \u00a0arrested a French diplomat and surrounded France\u2019s embassy in the Iranian capital. After months of negotiations, Paris surrendered to Tehran\u2019s extortion and allowed him to leave France.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It was later revealed that Charles Pasqua, who was negotiating with the Iranians over the fate of French hostages, had <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/archives\/la-xpm-1987-11-30-mn-16901-story.html\" rel=\"noopener\">offered to swap Gordji<\/a> for the Frenchman.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Clotilde Reiss, a French woman, was arrested during the 2009 protests in Iran. The regime\u2019s then-president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad urged France to swap prisoners. Ahmadinejad\u2019s counterpart, Nicolas Sarkozy, rejected this offer publicly and said: \u201cThere will be no prisoner exchange, and the Iranian president knows it well. <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.lorientlejour.com\/article\/632226\/Sarkozy_rejette_le_%253C%253C%2Bchantage%2B%253E%253E_d%2527Ahmadinejad_sur_le_cas_Reiss.html\" rel=\"noopener\">It\u2019s blackmail<\/a>. Do you think I\u2019m a man to exchange the murderer of (ex-Iranian Prime Minister) Chapour Bakhtiar with a young student whose only crime is to speak the Persian language and love its civilization?\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">But the time proved Sarkozy wrong. France did swap prisoners, and Chapour Bakhtiar\u2019s assassin was released.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Paris\u2019s feeble approach towards Tehran\u2019s terrorism encouraged the regime to go as far as trying to bomb the Iranian Resistance\u2019s gathering in 2018 in the heart of Paris. The timely action of the European security services prevented the deaths of thousands of people, including renowned dignitaries from both sides of the Atlantic and beyond.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It seems that Western powers, particularly European governments, have not learned any lessons from the past.
