The regime\u2019s Appeals Court in Tehran Province upheld the conviction of student activist Sina Darvish Omran.<\/p>\n

Darvish Omran, a student of German language translation at Tehran University, had been sentenced in June by the regime\u2019s Revolutionary Court to eight years in prison and banned from political activity or participation in political parties, cyberspace, media and press activities.<\/p>\n

Reports indicate that the trial of Marzieh Amiri, another student activist and journalist, will also take place next week.<\/p>\n

Amiri was among tens activists who were beaten and arrested during the International Labor Day demonstration in front of the Majlis (Parliament) on May 1, 2019.<\/p>\n

Branch 6 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court has charged Marzieh with “collusion and propaganda against the regime” and “disturbing public order.”<\/p>\n

Ms Amiri, a senior student studying for her Masters in Social Sciences at Tehran University, has suffered from epileptic seizures due to pressures during interrogation.<\/p>\n

Arash Dolatshahi, Amiri’s lawyer, said Iranian authorities are refusing to release her on bail for medical treatment as well as completing her master\u2019s dissertation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
