The nationwide Iran uprising ended its seven weeks with the chants of \u201cDeath to the dictator\u201d and \u201cDeath to [Ali] Khamenei,\u201d referring to the regime\u2019s supreme leader, echoing throughout Iran, forcing the clerical regime to resort to pathetic moves to justify its rule.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

One of the regime\u2019s ridiculous gestures happened on Friday, October 28, when it rallied its supporters in a dozen Iranian cities in a bid to intimidate protesters. Instead, Iranians continued their protests on Friday<\/a>, and unlike the state-staged rallies, many people across the country joined popular demonstrations.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Iran\u2019s ruling theocracy and its officials, who made much fanfare that Friday was the \u201cbeginning of the end of riots,\u201d were forced to gather their hoodlums and make another hodgepodge on Saturday.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Since the beginning of what many consider Iran\u2019s democratic revolution, the Iranian regime and its apologists in the West have tried to portray the uprising as \u201cleaderless\u201d and an amalgam of emotional reactions of adolescent masses.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Yet, the focus of the regime\u2019s rallies in those two days confirmed the opposite. The main slogan of these shows was \u201cdeath to the hypocrites,\u201d a derogatory term Tehran uses to describe its leading opposition group, the People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization<\/a> of Iran (PMOI\/MEK).\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Friday prayer leaders, known as Khamenei\u2019s mouthpieces, reflected their master\u2019s fear of the organized Resistance movement. Like the Johnny-one note, the mullahs spoke of the MEK\u2019s danger.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe MEK support these rioters,\u201d said Rasul Felhati, Khamenei\u2019s representative in Rasht, while acknowledging that \u201cwe might have this kind of riots again.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Abdohossain Gheibshahi, Abadan\u2019s Friday prayer leader, also acknowledged that the regime \u201chas lost its patience\u201d facing the uprising, so \u201cthe MEK should not be safe, and we expect them to receive heavy blows.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cPeople should distance themselves from the MEK,\u201d said Shahr-e-Rey\u2019s Friday prayer leader, Ali Shahcheraghi, revealing the regime\u2019s fear of the rising trend of youth approaching the MEK\u2019s Resistance Units<\/a> or supporting their goal of regime change at any cost.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Saturday\u2019s pre-staged rallies showed another perspective of the regime\u2019s failure. Hossein Salami, the commander of the terrorist Revolutionary Guards (IRGC), claimed in Shiraz that \u201cToday is the last day of protests\u201d and warned protesters not to come onto the streets.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cDear university students, listen, we cannot tolerate actions out of [the regime\u2019s] framework. Do you want to reach power beside the criminal hypocrites [MEK] who betrayed this nation? Open your eyes and stand with the [regime],\u201d he blatantly said.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

He received his answer from Iranians, particularly university students, in less than 24 hours. Brave Iranian youth and students staged anti-regime rallies across Iran while chanting \u201cdeath to the dictator\u201d and clashing with security forces. The regime\u2019s oppressive forces opened fire on university students but failed to stifle their voices.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
