On Wednesday, many Iranian cities witnessed <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/iran-protests-2022-nationwide-uprising\/\" rel=\"noopener\">demonstrations<\/a> in solidarity with the people of the southeastern Iranian region. The province that was once considered a flourishing area in Iran is devastated due to the cruelty and discrimination of dictatorships.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Yet, the courageous people in Sistan and Baluchestan have played a significant role since the beginning of Iran\u2019s nationwide uprising. Two third of the uprising\u2019s 550 martyrs are from this province. Their bravery has encouraged the entire Iranian nation and sent a wave of national solidarity across the country.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Therefore, the regime miserably failed after decades of painting the deprived people of Baluchestan as \u201cseparationists,\u201d an excuse used by officials to justify their misbehavior and crimes against humanity in Sistan and Baluchestan.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Since hijacking the revolution in 1979, religious fascism has been aiming to \u201cdivide and conquer\u201d or oppress the restive Iranian society. A few weeks into the Iranian 1979 revolution, the regime\u2019s founder Ruhollah Khomeini mobilized its forces and attacked the Kurdistan region. This was just the beginning of Iran\u2019s ruling theocracy. The <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/ncri-statements\/statement-iran-protest\/iran-irgcs-modus-operandi-in-dealing-with-the-uprising\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Revolutionary Guards (IRGC)<\/a> forces and border patrol have been mercilessly killing fuel porters in Sistan and Baluchestan and porters in Kurdistan under the pretext of \u201cfighting smuggling.\u201d Meanwhile, by controlling all of Iran\u2019s officials and unofficial ports, IRGC runs the country\u2019s largest smuggling network.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The Iranian opposition, the People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/english.mojahedin.org\/about-the-peoples-mojahedin-organization-of-iran-pmoi-mek\/\" rel=\"noopener\">(PMOI\/MEK)<\/a>, was the first to condemn Khomeini\u2019s full-fledged war on Kurdistan and other ethnic minorities. In 1981, the National Council of Resistance of Iran <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/about-ncri\/ncri\/alternative\/\" rel=\"noopener\">(NCRI)<\/a> adopted a comprehensive plan recognizing Kurdistan\u2019s self-autonomy in the context of the territorial integrity of Iran. The NCRI underlines that the measures included in this plan could be used as a model for other provinces like Sistan and Baluchestan.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The clerical regime, and its predecessor dictatorship, have long tried to target national unity by putting double pressure on regions like Sistan and Baluchestan. But the recent uprising laid bare their failure.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The brave people in Kurdistan and Baluchestan paid the price of national unity with their blood. They refused to fall into the regime\u2019s trap of \u201cseparationism\u201d and, like other protesters across Iran, focused on calling out the entire regime and chanted \u201cDeath to Khamenei\u201d. <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The presence of Iranians from all walks of life in the nationwide uprising, including the active participation of ethnic and religious minorities with the goal of regime change, once again proves the reality that there is a democratic revolution in the making in Iran. By chanting slogans such as \u201cdeath to the dictator\u201d and \u201cdown with the oppressor, be it Shah or the Mullah,\u201d Iranians have made it crystal clear they want democracy. Other slogans, such as \u201cFrom Zahedan to Tehran, my life for Iran,\u201d indicate a national determination to topple a regime that has indeed occupied Iran.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The time has come for the world community to accept the Iranian people\u2019s will and desire for regime change. The first step is recognizing their right to self-defense and self-determination of their future.
