President Trump\u2019s modernized counterterrorism Executive Order enhances the authorities we use to target the finances of terror groups and their leaders to ensure they are as robust as possible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He continued: \u201cThese new authorities will allow the U.S. Government to starve terrorists of resources they need to attack the United States and our allies and will hold foreign financial institutions who continue to do business with them accountable. These new tools aid our unrelenting efforts to cut off terrorists from their sources of support and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/terrorism-fundamentalism\/26637-u-s-imposes-sanctions-on-iran-regime-s-terror-network-labels-lebanon-bank-with-hezbollah-ties-a-global-terrorist-2?highlight=WyJ0cmVhc3VyeSIsInRyZWFzdXJ5J3MiLCJzYW5jdGlvbnMiLCJzYW5jdGlvbnMnIiwiJ3NhbmN0aW9ucyIsInNhbmN0aW9ucycsIiwic2FuY3Rpb25zJy4iLCInc2FuY3Rpb25zJyIsInRyZWFzdXJ5IHNhbmN0aW9ucyJd\">deprive them of the funds<\/a> required to carry out their destructive activities.&nbsp; They serve as a powerful deterrent to radical terror groups and those seeking to aid their nefarious goals.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sanctioned people include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Muhammad Sa\u2019id Izadi, the chief of the IRGC-Quds Force\u2019s Palestinian office in Lebanon, who provided support to Hamas of above $2 million<\/li>\n<li>Turkey-based Zaher Jabarin, the head of Hamas\u2019s financial office, who served as the primary point of contact between HAMAS and the IRGC-QF<\/li>\n<li>a Brazil-based al Qaeda member<\/li>\n<li>a Maldivian national who recruits for the Islamic State branch active in Afghanistan<\/li>\n<li>an operative of the Islamic State affiliate in the Philippines<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It\u2019s important to note that many of these terrorist groups are actually funded by Iran\u2019s regime or have been supported by them.<\/p>\n<p>These <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/us-usa-terrorism-sanctions\/new-us-sanctions-target-hamas-islamic-state-other-groups-idUSKCN1VV2CH\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">sanctions<\/a> mean that any property the targets may have in the U.S. would be frozen and US persons would be banned from having business dealings with them.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The United States announced new sanctions targeting a &ldquo;wide range of terrorists and their supporters&rdquo;, including the Iranian regime&rsquo;s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) Quds Force, Hamas, al Qaeda, and [&#8230;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":20,"featured_media":53838,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[19],"tags":[178],"class_list":{"0":"post-26668","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-terrorism-a-fundamentalism","8":"tag-save"},"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.3 -
