\nIn a speech at the United Nations General Assembly on Friday, September 27, 2019, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama highlighted the Iranian regime\u2019s illegal and destabilizing activities including its plots against members of the main Iranian opposition group People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI, Mujahedin-e Khalq or MEK)<\/a> who reside in Ashraf 3, Albania.<\/p>\n Prime Minister Rama told the UN General Assembly: \u201cAlbania is particularly concerned by Iran’s destabilizing behavior<\/a> in the Middle East but also often disruptive activities in relation to the Iranian opposition community who have generously been hosted in our country after having been subject to despicable massacres elsewhere.\u201d<\/p>\n Prime Minister Rama pointed out: \u201cWe had to react firmly to a number of Iran’s illicit activities against our national security interests.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWe stand firm on the side of the countries that have been hurt by such activities both on the sea and in their land,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n PM @ediramaal<\/a>: Albania has acted against Iran’s illegal activities against its national security interests, inc. its plots against dissident MEK members. Mr. Fatmir Mediu, chairman of the Albanian Republican Party as well as the President\u2019s National Security Adviser accompanied the President.<\/p>\n During this visit, President Meta met and held talks with Mrs.\u00a0Maryam Rajavi<\/a>, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI<\/a>) and toured the\u00a0exhibition on 120 years of struggle for freedom in Iran<\/a>\u00a0in\u00a0Ashraf 3.<\/p>\n During a meeting with MEK members, President Meta said, \u201cI had no idea about the extent of your sacrifice and the genocide you and your supporter have endured. Having the possibility to see so many people, women and children, massacred was shocking.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThis was also indication of a widespread movement inside Iran and showed how tyrannical the regime is. This is really bad not only for the people of Iran but also for regional and global peace and stability\u2026I was very impressed with the Ten-point Plan of Mrs. Rajavi because it is based on fundamental freedoms and will guarantee prosperity and democracy for the Iranian people. All of us here in Albania are united in our support for your efforts and determination,\u201d President Meta underscored.<\/p>\n Mrs. Rajavi welcomed President Meta and said that Iranian people will never forget Albania\u2019s hospitality afforded to Iran\u2019s combatants of freedom and that this gesture will be recorded in the history of relations between the two countries.
