\"NCRIWidespread strikes by bazaar merchants in Tehran, across the country<\/h3>\n

On Monday, December 5, marking the 81st\u00a0<\/sup>day of the nationwide uprising, bazaar merchants and shopkeepers in various commercial sectors of Tehran and most of the country’s provinces went on strike in solidarity with the uprising. In Tehran, carpet, iron, Cheraqbargh and spare parts bazaars, and shops in Lalehzar, Abdul Abad, Darvazeh Tehran, Vali-e Asr, Ekbatan, Azadi, Sa\u2019adi St., Gandhi St., Sattar Khan, Punak, Sepahsalar, Naziabad, Shahr-e Ray, Islamshahr started their strikes this morning, December 5. The shopkeepers in Cheraqbargh Street chanted, “So many have come to fight the leader (Ali Khamenei),” “Death to the dictator” and “The entirety of the regime is the target.”<\/p>\n

Bazaars across the country, including Isfahan, Najaf Abad, Yazdanshahr, Zarinshahr, Shiraz, Behbahan, Kazeroon, Marvdasht, Evaz, Zarghan, Borujen, Dezful, Sanandaj, Mahabad, Paveh, Ravansar, Javanrood, Dehgolan, Divandareh, Baneh, Saqqez, Kamyaran, Ilam, Qorveh, Bukan, Sarableh in Ilam, Tabriz, Ardabil, Urmia, Mashhad, Garmsar, Neyshabur, Sabzevar, Bojnurd, Rasht, Bandar Anzali, Lahijan, Sari, Fardis in Karaj, Arak, Bandar Abbas, Kerman, Bushehr, Chabahar, Dashtyar and Nobandian in Sistan and Baluchistan province, etc., stopped working and joined the strike.<\/p>\n

The noble merchants are paying a heavy price for going on strike at a time when, in addition to the security issues and the regime\u2019s intimidation, they must cover their living expenses in dire economic conditions and severe inflation.<\/p>\n

Truck drivers in Shahpur, Isfahan, employees of Al-Mahdi Aluminum Company in Bandar Abbas, some 500 contractor workers of Mahshahr Terminal and Petrochemical Reservoir Company and petrochemical workers of Sanandaj joined the strike.<\/p>\n

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi<\/a>, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), sent greetings to bazaar merchants who joined the nationwide strike in support of the uprising together with students and other groups and said that the Iranian people\u2019s resolve to challenge the religious fascism leaves no doubt that their democratic revolution shall prevail.<\/p>\n
