On Wednesday, December 7, marking the 83rd<\/sup>\u00a0day of the uprising<\/a>, coinciding with Student Day in Iran and widespread protests in universities across the country, the strike by the bazaar merchants and shopkeepers of Tehran and various cities continued for the third consecutive day. People and students staged protest rallies in the streets of Tehran and several cities across the country. They clashed with the regime\u2019s suppressive security agents.<\/p>\n

In solidarity with the uprising, merchants and shopkeepers went on strike in different areas of Tehran and Karaj, Arak, Qazvin, Isfahan, Bushehr, Lahijan, Marvdasht, Mahabad, Marivan, Ilam, Oshnavieh, Bukan, Kamyaran, Divandarreh, Islamabad Gharb, Karand, Shiraz, Sarableh, Famenin (Hamedan), Kermanshah, Javanrud, Hafshejan, Saqez, Jam (Busher), Anzali, Borujen, Kuchesfahan, Shahin Shahr, Langerud, Sanandaj, Paveh, Baneh, Abdanan, Zarinshahr, Shahr-e Kord, Khoshk-e Bijar, Ravansar, Babak Shahr, Kerman, Delgan, Zahedan, Kozaran, Bushehr, Ganaveh, etc. Over the past two days, the regime’s repressive forces have sealed many shops in Tehran and other cities for joining the strike and marked their premises like Nazis to take retaliatory measures against them later on.<\/p>\n

Following the students\u2019 protests, despite the heavily controlled areas with the presence of many police and security forces, people staged their protest this afternoon in Tehran from Nawab Street towards Azadi Square. Security forces fired tear gas at the protesters on Azadi and Mirdamad streets.<\/p>\n

Students at Mashhad University protested and clashed with State Security Force (SSF). Youths in Tehran erected a giant banner on the Chamran highway that read: “Should we were scared of you, we wouldn\u2019t have confronted you barehanded”. People also protested in the streets of Kermanshah. Petrochemical workers of Sanandaj went on strike for the third day, and defiant youths in Eslamshahr smashed the regime’s large propaganda display screen in the Namaz square.<\/p>\n

Protest rallies were held in Tehran today, while Ali Khamenei tried their best to spend this day with minimal cost. The regime\u2019s IRGC and the intelligence services had planned to arrest protesters on a large scale to prevent gatherings or rallies. Necessary instructions concerning checkpoints and arrests had been issued to be implemented from 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 7, in more than 100 locations in Tehran, including Enghelab Street, Hemet Bazaar, Naziabad, Javadiyeh, Sattar Khan, Haft Howz, Poonak, Tehranpars, and Tajrish.<\/p>\n
