\nIn a special report on December 23, 2019,<\/span> about the deadly crackdown on the Iran protests<\/a>, <\/span>Reuters confirmed <\/span>the <\/span>death toll of 1500 that was announced<\/span><\/a> by the People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI)<\/a>, otherwise known as the Mujahedin-e-Khalq (MEK)<\/a>, on December 15, 2019.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Reuters also pointed to <\/span>the <\/span>direct role of the <\/span>Iranian regime\u2019s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in suppressing the nationwide Iran protests.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cAfter days of protests across Iran last month, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei<\/a> appeared impatient. The toll, provided to Reuters by three Iranian interior ministry officials, included at least 17 teenagers and about 400 women as well as some members of the security forces and police<\/span>,<\/span>\u201d the report added<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n According to the #MEK<\/a>, the Iranian regime has killed at least 1500 #protesters<\/a>. The MEK has so far identified 547 of these martyrs.#FreeAllProtesters<\/a> #StopIranBloodshed<\/a> #IranProtests<\/a> pic.twitter.com\/isI2wsivUY<\/a><\/p>\n \u2014 NCRI-FAC (@iran_policy) December 22, 2019<\/a>\u00a0<\/p><\/blockquote>\n According to this report<\/span>:<\/span> \u201cT<\/span>he figures provided to Reuters, <\/span>s<\/span>aid two of the Iranian officials who provided them, are based on information gathered from security forces, morgues, hospitals, and coroner\u2019s offices<\/span>.<\/span>\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n According to Reuters report, on November 17 evening, <\/span>in a meeting at Khamenei\u2019s official residence in a fortified compound in Tehran, <\/span>\u201c<\/span>Khamenei met with senior officials, including security aides, President Hassan Rouhani and members of his cabinet<\/span>,\u201d and \u201c<\/span>At the meeting, described to Reuters by the three sources close to his inner circle, the 80-year-old leader, who has final say over all state matters in the country, raised his voice and expressed criticism of the handling of the unrest. He was also angered by the burning of his image and the destruction of a statue of the republic\u2019s late founder, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.<\/span>\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThe Islamic Republic is in danger. Do whatever it takes to end it. You have my order,\u201d the supreme leader told the group, <\/span>according to <\/span>one of <\/span>Reuters\u2019 <\/span>sources.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The nationwide uprising which began on November 15 over the fuel price-hike, quickly turned political. People targeted the regime in its entirety in their slogans and demanded regime change. According to the MEK<\/a><\/span>,<\/span> so far 1500 have been killed. The MEK <\/a>has so far identified 557 martyrs of <\/a><\/span>the <\/span><\/a>Iran protests<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Mrs. Maryam <\/a><\/span>Rajavi<\/span><\/a>, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran<\/a><\/span>,<\/span> had said earlier: \u201cThe world community\u2019s silence and inaction have emboldened the religious fascism ruling Iran to continue and intensify its anti-human crimes against the Iranian people. The time has come to end impunity for those responsible for these atrocities. The regime\u2019s supreme leader Ali Khamenei, its president Hassan Rouhani, and other leaders, who have been perpetrating crimes against humanity, must face justice. I urge the United Nations to form a fact-finding mission to investigate this major crime and visit the prisons and the prisoners in Iran.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n The United Nations must send fact-finding missions to #Iran<\/a> to investigate about those killed, injured and imprisoned.
