Several British MPs urged the U.K. government to support the Iranian people\u2019s uprising by proscribing the regime\u2019s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC).\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">In his remarks, Hon. Tom Tugendhat condemned the Iranian regime\u2019s efforts to silence dissidents in the UK, citing a report by the MI5 in this regard. \u201cThe Home Secretary and I are working with our partners across Government to ensure that all tools at our disposal are used to protect individuals in the UK against any threats from the Iranian state,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\"><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/members.parliament.uk\/member\/1604\/contact\" rel=\"noopener\">MP Sharma<\/a> criticized the ability of the IRGC commanders to \u201ctravel to the UK and store their stolen wealth almost with impunity. I hope he will be encouraged by the actions the UK Government is taking at the moment in looking into various of these areas, and also by the work being done by some of our partners. Hon. <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/members.parliament.uk\/member\/1500\/contact\" rel=\"noopener\">MP Theresa Villiers<\/a>, a former government Minister, urged the government to \u201cshut down the Islamic center in Maida Vale, which is the voice of the supreme leader,\u201d in the UK, underlining that this center shouldn\u2019t \u201chave charitable status.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">In his remarks, conservative <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/members.parliament.uk\/member\/4005\/contact\" rel=\"noopener\">MP Bob Blackman<\/a> underlined, \u201cClearly, the threat from the IRGC to people in this country\u2014be they opposition journalists reporting on what is going on in Iran at the moment or UK citizens\u2014is paramount.\u201d He asked if the government would proscribe the IRGC, as this decision is supported by all political parties in the parliament.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Rt. <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/members.parliament.uk\/member\/4472\/contact\" rel=\"noopener\">Hon. Holly Lync<\/a>, the shadow Minister of the Home Office from the Labour Party, spoke next. \u201cThe Minister has been explicit, as have others, about the threat we face in the UK from the Iranian regime. I really welcome what he has said, and we stand ready to work with him on this issue, but the truth is that we have not seen anything like the sanctions and immigration controls that have been deployed against Russia being deployed against Iran,\u201d he said in her remarks. If taken, this action ends decades of a wrong appeasement policy, which has been dominant in the European Union for decades.
