The cruel action, recorded on camera by a bystander, indicated an emerging pattern and raised serious concerns among Iranians and the luring insecurity in developments that are branded \u201cunifying events,\u201d and about the return of the Pahlavi dictatorship, notorious for systemic human rights abuses.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">On Monday, February 20, thousands of Iranians <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vrt.be\/vrtnws\/en\/2023\/02\/20\/iranians-demonstrate-in-brussels\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">gathered in Brussels<\/a> to urge the European Union to proscribe Iran\u2019s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) as a terrorist entity. Many supporters of the People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI\/MEK) and the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) were among the participants.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The remnants of the deposed monarchy were also present, trying, as usual, to usurp the demonstration in favor of the abhorrent Pahlavi dictatorship. They failed, as Iranians held placards and signs denouncing any form of dictatorship, therefore echoing the voice of their compatriots inside Iran who chant, \u201cDeath to the oppressor, be it the Shah or the mullahs.\u201d Thus, Reza Pahlavi\u2019s thugs showed their true colors by attacking Mr. Hassan Habibi and Ms. Mahnaz Arab, two MEK supporters, which resulted in their hospitalization.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">On Monday in Brussels, Reza Pahlavi&#39;s thugs attacked two MEK supporters, Mr. Hassan Habibi and Ms. Mahnaz Arab. Both were transferred to a hospital. <br \/>This video shows how remnants of the deposed monarchy attacked Mr. Habibi. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/No2ShahNo2Mullahs?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#No2ShahNo2Mullahs<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/DUdCUK40vZ\">pic.twitter.com\/DUdCUK40vZ<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; NCRI-FAC (@iran_policy) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/iran_policy\/status\/1627982674810884096?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 21, 2023<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">This attack happened a few days after the supporters of the monarchy in Munich, Germany held large pictures of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/iran-protests\/iran-revolutions-persistence-brings-a-criminal-parviz-sabeti-to-spotlight\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Parviz Sabeti<\/a>, a notorious torturer of the Shah\u2019s SAVAK (secret police) while raising his brutalities in dealing with dissidents, namely the MEK prisoners in Shah\u2019s era.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">In the 1970s, facing a restive society and a growing trend of youth joining resistance groups, Shah used his SAVAK to stifle any voice of dissent in Iran brutally. While the remnants of the decayed monarchy try to imply Iran was better under the Shah and create a false nostalgia, they cannot rewrite history or erase the Iranian people\u2019s memory. <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The story of SAVAK\u2019s brutal tortures made headlines in the 1970s. Before Shah\u2019s trip to the U.S. in 1977, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.villagevoice.com\/2022\/11\/15\/beautiful-butchers-the-shah-serves-up-caviar-and-torture\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">the Village Voice published<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> an article, \u201cBeautiful Butchers,\u201d mocking how the tyrant had \u201cmade tortures chic.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">In his 1974-5 Report as Amnesty International Secretary General, Martin Ennals wrote how the Shah \u201cretains his benevolent image despite the highest rate of death penalties in the world, no valid system of civilian courts and a history of torture which is beyond belief.\u201d<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">In other words, under his \u201cmodern and advanced leader\u201d mask, there was a psychopath who mercilessly ordered torture and executions. Shah\u2019s cruelty was one of many reasons the Iranian society revolted against his regime.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Sadly, the anti-monarchial revolution was hijacked by the ruling theocracy, and the mullahs\u2019 crimes against the Iranian people exceeded the boundaries of brutality set by the Shah and his SAVAK.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">In his memoirs, Shah referred to the liberation of political prisoners, mostly MEK leaders, as his \u201cbiggest mistake.\u201d Many of those prisoners were killed by the Iranian regime. In other words, Khomeini completed Shah\u2019s task.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Now, as the nationwide Iran revolution pose an existential threat to the clerical regime, the remnants of the Shah rush to the aid of their master\u2019s \u201ctrue heir.\u201d They spread discord and disunity by targeting other dissidents of the regime while trying to usurp the Iranian people\u2019s democratic revolution, which aims to establish a democratic republic.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Reza Pahlavi speaks of human rights and democracy while slandering the MEK, yet his supporters, like their IRGC comrades, attack the Iranian resistance\u2019s supporters and vow to restore SAVAK to deal with \u201cfuture terrorists.\u201d What else could be excepted when Reza Pahlavi explicitly acknowledges that he is in \u201c<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=xWoQLWyzT3M\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">bilateral contact<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201d with the IRGC?\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Must Watch: Powerful &amp; shocking testimony by the late Raji Samghabadi, Time Magazine correspondent. When Reza Pahlavi and his supporters openly speak about resuscitating SAVAK and target dissidents abroad, how should one believe their deafening cries of \u201cdemocracy\u201d?\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">As Jean-Pierre Brard, a former French MP, said during the NCRI\u2019s rally on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, \u201c<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Iranians did not offer so much blood and suffered so much to endure such an alternative.
