On Saturday, Hassan Karami<\/a>, the commander of the Iranian regime\u2019s special anti-riot units, revealed the regime\u2019s utter fear of the nationwide uprising while blatantly claiming to have crushed Iran\u2019s democratic revolution, which he described as \u201criots.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cOur vision is to cover at least 400 cities and areas nationwide to counter riots and the enemy\u2019s supposed movements. We should double our capacity in the [Persian New Year of] 1402,\u201d he said, as <\/span>reported<\/span><\/a> by different state-run outlets on March 25.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Moreover, in his annual Nowruz speech, the regime\u2019s supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, bogusly claimed that he and his regime had \u201cslapped\u201d the \u201crioters\u201d and would do it again in the future vis-\u00e0-vis other \u201cincidents.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Despite Khamenei\u2019s \u201cvictory over riots\u201d rhetoric, Karami implicitly acknowledged the society\u2019s volatility and that at least 400 cities and areas are on the verge of explosion. Secondly, by vowing to double the anti-riot units and facilities, Karami admitted that future demonstrations would be more extensive and pose a greater existential threat to the regime.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Why would Karami make such a contradictory remark about oppressing the nationwide protest and exhibiting such fear of future demonstrations?\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The answer lies in the streets across Iran, which have been the hotbed of protests and scenes of the bravery of the defiant youth, despite the regime\u2019s severe crackdowns and attempts to detract the revolution in the making from its main course and the goal of regime change.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Besides, the brave \u201cResistance Units<\/a>\u201d of the Mujahedin-Khalq (MEK), or the \u201cenemy\u201d Karami speaks of, have kept the fire of protests alit through their activities across Iran.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
