Iran\u2019s economic crisis worsens every day. Despite its rich resources, the country\u2019s economic maladies are devastating. Authorities’ self-boasting rhetoric prevents them from admitting that they are overwhelmed by economic pressures and face an explosive society. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On April 3, the regime\u2019s president, Ebrahim Raisi, said<\/a>: \u201cEradicating absolute poverty is a must. We shouldn\u2019t allow anyone to be in such a situation, and we will do so starting tonight!\u201d Raisi had once ordered prices \u201cto stop hiking\u201d and vowed to \u201ceradicate poverty in two weeks!\u201d What else is expected from an unscrupulous mass murderer whose dark record consists of nothing but crimes against humanity? <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“Officials\u2019 remarks in the first two weeks of the new [Persian] year of 1402 indicates that they do not intend to change their failed policies and approach,\u201d the state-run Jomhuri-e Eslami daily reacted to Raisi\u2019s remarks on April 3.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

According to official accounts, Iran\u2019s inflation<\/a> hovers around 50%, the value of Iran\u2019s national currency continues to plunge, the unemployment rate is high, and people\u2019s purchasing power freefalls, pushing more people under the poverty line. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Hossein Marashi, \u00a0a former member of the regime\u2019s parliament, described the high inflation as an \u201cearthquake\u201d rattling the regime\u2019s foundation. “50% inflation is like an earthquake that has destroyed the country and will continue to destroy it,\u201d he said, according to the state-run Eghtesadnews website on March 29. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In his annual Nowruz address<\/a>, the regime’s supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, acknowledged the country’s economic crunch but suggested that entrusting the “private sector”\u2014a euphemism for the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC)\u2014with control over vital industries and companies would provide a solution. In other words, his solution was more plundering by adding to IRGC’s official income streams, as no private enterprise can attain significant economic clout in Iran without affiliating with the IRGC.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
