Iran is Innovation Leader but Governance Laggard, Says INSEAD Study<\/h3>\n

A recent study, published by the renowned business school “INSEAD”<\/a> in both the United States and France, has unveiled Iran’s remarkable strengths in fostering innovation and scientific talent in the year 2023. The study, based on the Global Talent Competitiveness Index, places Iran at the 116th spot out of 134 countries in the overall rankings.\u00a0Iran shines in several key areas, including “innovation output,” “scientific journal publications,” “researchers,” “world university rankings,” and “urbanization.” Notably, Iran outperforms countries like India, Russia, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, and Egypt in these categories, ranking 37th or higher.<\/p>\n

However, the study also highlights the clerical dictatorship’s governance, notably in “corruption,” “personal rights,” “political stability,” “rule of law,” “government effectiveness,” “economic empowerment of women,” and “women’s leadership opportunities.” In these areas, Iran’s performance is notably weak, placing it at lower ranks compared to many other nations, which hampers its overall standing in the index.<\/p>\n

Despite its innovation potential, Iran faces significant hurdles due to these governance issues in preserving and utilizing its human capital effectively.<\/p>\n

MP Admits to Dual Use of Regime in Internet Censorship<\/h3>\n

Today, a member of the Iranian regime’s parliament admitted to the systematic corruption within the clerical dictatorship, citing that the regime not only imposes political restrictions through internet censorship but also benefits economically from it.<\/p>\n

According to the state-run website Fararu News<\/a>, MP Javad Nikbin, stated in a TV interview, “I believe and say it explicitly that the authors of internet censorship plans are the same people who are also VPN sellers. In other words, those who develop filtering software either directly or indirectly sell VPNs.”<\/p>\n

Nikbin further commented, “After we approached the Ministry of Communications, they raised their objections, insisting that the authorization you signed was meant for investigating sources outside the country. Wednesday Protests in Iran<\/h3>\n

Retirees from the Social Security Organization of Shush and retirees and pensioners of the oil industry in Ahvaz staged another protest on Wednesday, November 8. They were expressing their dissatisfaction with the poor economic conditions and the lack of responsiveness to their demands.<\/p>\n

Also today, the employees of the Aghajari Oil and Gas Exploitation Company organized a protest to express their frustration with the unmet legal demands.<\/p>\n
