Seyed Salman Samani, 42, is facing a deportation hearing under sanctions imposed a year ago against members of Iran\u2019s hardline regime.<\/p>\n The Canada Border Services Agency has asked the Immigration and Refugee Board to hold a hearing for Samani that could result in his removal.<\/p>\n \u201cSamani was referred for an admissibility hearing on Nov. 10, 2023,\u201d said Anna Pape, the Refugee Board spokesperson.\u00a0The Canadian government declined to say whether the case concerned Seyed Salman Samani, 42, who is Iran\u2019s deputy minister of interior.<\/p>\n Read more<\/a><\/p>\n In a virtual meeting held on December 6, the leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) convened to discuss pressing global challenges and chart a path toward a more promising future. During the summit, the G7 issued a joint statement<\/a> addressing concerns about the Iranian regime’s involvement in supporting various militias in the Middle East. The leaders called on Tehran to refrain from providing support to these groups and they also called on the Houthis, to stop attacks on civilians and threats to international shipping lanes and commercial vessels.<\/p>\n The statement also reads, “We remain determined that Iran must never develop a nuclear weapon and reiterate that Iran must cease its unabated escalation of its nuclear program, which has no credible civilian justification and brings it dangerously close to actual weapon-related activities. We call on Iran to fulfill its legal obligations and political commitments regarding nuclear non-proliferation with prompt action, including full and unconditional cooperation with the IAEA.”<\/p>\n Today, December 6, retirees in Kermanshah, Hamadan, Arak, Ahvaz, Sanandaj, and Mamasani came together to express their discontent with the challenging economic conditions, poverty, and perceived exploitation under the clerical dictatorship.<\/p>\n Also today, workers at the Abadan oil refinery took a stand by ceasing work, protesting the non-receipt of their wages and insurance benefits.
