The calls from the Supreme Leader and his close associates for widespread participation did not resonate among the broad swathes of the Iranian electorate. This disengagement was reflected in the notably low turnout, with the leading candidate in Tehran garnering a mere fraction\u2014less than eight percent\u2014of potential votes. This pervasive national boycott is a telling barometer of the current political climate and the citizens\u2019 sentiment toward the theocratic regime.<\/p>\n

Quick to exploit the mass boycott of the election, isolated spin doctors for\u00a0Reza Pahlavi<\/a>, son of the deposed Shah of Iran, claimed the majority of Iranians longed for the restoration of the monarchy. Nothing could be further from the truth. Like the famous tale by Hans Christian Andersen about the Emperor who has no clothes, Reza Pahlavi continues to stride naked across the world stage, naively believing he is wearing the resplendent robes of a monarch.<\/p>\n

French Magazine Reveals Iranian Guards’ Ship’s Alleged Role in Yemen Conflict<\/h3>\n

On Sunday, March 10, the French weekly magazine “Express” published<\/a> an article revealing the operations of an intelligence ship belonging to Iran’s Revolutionary Guards named “Behshad.” The vessel, disguised as a commercial ship, reportedly plays a crucial role in guiding the missile attacks of Houthi insurgents and has been stationed in the Red Sea since 2021.<\/p>\n

Express detailed the ship’s mission of providing valuable information to the Houthis for identifying and targeting Western ships in the Gulf of Aden. Recent weeks have seen relentless missile and drone attacks by the Houthis in the Red Sea, with American forces managing to destroy at least 43 Houthi combat drones within forty-eight hours. One such attack on March 6 resulted in the death of three non-combatant crew members aboard a commercial vessel in the Gulf of Aden.<\/p>\n

Express further noted that suspicions about the Behshad ship arose in 2021 when a similar vessel, named “Saviz,” replaced it in the Red Sea. According to Express, Saviz was also tasked with supporting arms smuggling and providing intelligence to Yemeni Houthis but was ultimately transferred to the shores of Iran due to an alarming explosion on board.<\/p>\n

Information sources revealed that since its deployment in the Red Sea, the Behshad vessel has exhibited no significant movements and has deactivated its automatic identification system to remain covert, receiving constant protection from the Iranian naval forces.<\/p>\n

According to Express, in January of last year, the Revolutionary Guards’ ship shifted its position from the Red Sea towards the southern part of the Gulf of Aden, coinciding with intensified missile and drone attacks by the Houthis in the area.<\/p>\n

In February last year, the United States reportedly targeted two Iranian military vessels, including the Behshad, in a cyber-attack. Additionally, according to US officials cited by the ABC News network, Behshad plays a significant role in providing targeting information to Houthi insurgents in their missile and drone attacks against Western vessels.<\/p>\n

Iranian Passport Ranked 190th Globally, Among Weakest in the World<\/h3>\n

In the latest passport ranking by the financial consulting institution “Nomad Capitalist<\/a>,” Switzerland has been declared to possess the “strongest” passport globally, while the passport of Iran ranks 190th in global credibility.<\/p>\n

The evaluations conducted by this institution in passport rankings include the ease of travel to other countries as well as other indices such as tax laws, global empathy, dual citizenship, and personal freedom. In this evaluation, the Iranian passport has received one of the lowest scores in terms of global credibility.<\/p>\n

According to Nomad Capitalist’s assessment, Iranian passport holders can only travel to 11 countries without a visa or with a visa on arrival, facing significant hostility from officials or citizens of those countries upon entry. Moreover, Iranians are “prohibited” from holding citizenship in other countries.<\/p>\n

Based on this report, Afghanistan ranks at the bottom with the lowest score, 199, while passports of Iraq and Yemen are labeled as the weakest after Afghanistan. Passports of Palestine, Ethiopia, Sudan, and Myanmar rank higher than Iran and are considered more credible.<\/p>\n
