However, in Iran, such revelations have sadly become commonplace.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Four years since the initiation of the power consolidation project by Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of the Iranian regime, a faction that once branded itself as &#8220;<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">principlists<\/span>&#8221; and vocally advocated for justice and combating corruption, now finds itself entangled in a string of embezzlement and corruption scandals. Bits and pieces of this massive embezzlement of Iran&#8217;s resources are now being exposed by media outlets tied with the rival factions who have been sidelined from power.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A state-run website, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.entekhab.ir\/fa\/news\/781507\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Entekhab, reported<\/a> on May 9, &#8220;It has been now revealed that over one hundred billion [tomans] has been moved within the Raefipour Foundation. This revelation came after Raefipour, acting as a proxy for the close relatives of Raisi&#8217;s brother-in-law, attempted attacks against [Parliament Speaker] Qalibaf! Consequently, those aligned with Qalibaf have uncovered the fraud of this rude boy with his big mouth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The reference is to Ali-Akbar Raefipour, a figure close to Khamenei\u2019s faction who is slated to hold a prominent position in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/iran-election\/power-struggles-amidst-second-round-of-irans-parliamentary-sham-elections\/\">regime&#8217;s new parliament<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On May 11, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baharnews.ir\/report\/469912\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bahar News website<\/a>, linked to the former regime\u2019s president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, reported, &#8220;Bank transactions of the Masaf Foundation [belonging to Raefipour] indicate that this institution has engaged in financial transactions totaling around 100 billion tomans from four bank accounts of Bank Melli, Sepah, and Saderat, under the guise of charitable activities, from 2022 until now.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Iran?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Iran<\/a>\u2019s Second Sham <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Elections?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Elections<\/a>: Officials Clash for Power Amidst Public Push for Change<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/AijLQT8qvj\">https:\/\/t.co\/AijLQT8qvj<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; NCRI-FAC (@iran_policy) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/iran_policy\/status\/1789317038927736877?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 11, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On the other hand, Jalil Mohebbi, a former official suggested that according to the law, Raefipour should be imprisoned for up to 5 years for money laundering!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The state-run newspaper Etemad wrote, &#8220;Based on Jalil Mohabbi&#8217;s argument, the charter of the Masaf Foundation, which Raefipour established, stipulates that this institution is supposed to operate solely in the field of promoting Mahdism and nothing else. Therefore, if any amount from the funds deposited in Raefipour&#8217;s and Masaf Foundation&#8217;s accounts has been spent on political matters, or election-related issues, according to Articles 674 of the Islamic Penal Code, offenders could face imprisonment ranging from three to five years!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pishkhan.com\/news\/319532\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">newspaper continued<\/a>, &#8220;What&#8217;s interesting here is that in completing this conversation with Mohebbi, suddenly documents of continuous payments from the Masaf Foundation to some social media activists were published, which received widespread attention on social media. In one example, 145 million tomans were paid to a user under the pseudonym <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Khorschid_T\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&#8216;Khorshid Khanoom&#8217;<\/a> to participate in the elections and promote voter turnout! Or in another example, among the deposits of this foundation, the name of a foreign girl named Alona Vashchenko is seen, who received significant sums from this institution for five consecutive rounds to appear in front of the camera under the name &#8216;Tahereh Vashchenko&#8217;!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The newspaper warned, &#8220;This latest clash once again reveals a deep division within the Principlist factions and indicates that the monolithic structure of Principlists has never been able to steer the political arena away from traditional conflicts and guide the country towards a peaceful and prosperous shore. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/economy\/kazem-sedighi-a-khamenei-ally-exposed-to-have-grabbed-billions-worth-of-land-in-irans-capital\/\">embezzlement by Kazem Sedighi<\/a>, the representative of the Supreme Leader and temporary Friday prayer leader of Tehran; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/economy\/iranian-regimes-shadowy-deals-with-china-highlight-corruption-and-sanctions-evasion\/\">multi-billion-dollar contracts<\/a> of Tehran mayor Alireza Zakani with China; the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ifmat.org\/07\/17\/no-accountability-as-khameneis-ayatollahs-steal-millions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">thefts by Ahmad Alamolhoda<\/a>, Khamenei&#8217;s representative in Mashhad; the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/exclusive-report\/exclusive-report-on-irgc-corruption-the-case-of-yas-holding-is-the-tip-of-the-iceberg\/\">corruption of Mohammad<\/a>-Bagher Ghalibaf, the current speaker of the regime&#8217;s parliament; the <a href=\"https:\/\/irannewsupdate.com\/news\/general\/massive-corruption-in-iran-regime-ali-shamkhani\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">embezzlement by Ali Shamkhani<\/a>, former security advisor to Khamenei, and his sons; the embezzlement case of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/economy\/record-3-7b-embezzlement-scandal-shakes-irans-tea-industry-revealing-deep-corruption-and-production-consequences\/\">Debsh Tea Company<\/a>; the iPhone scam case of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/economy\/corruption-and-embezzlement-surface-in-iran-as-kourosh-companys-iphone-ponzi-scheme-collapses\/\">Kourosh Company<\/a>; the embezzlement <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/iran-protests\/billion-dollar-embezzlement-in-iran-shocks-a-restive-society\/\">scandal at Mobarakeh Steel<\/a> Company; and many other cases are just a small fraction of the thefts that the Iranian people, who are becoming poorer every day, are becoming aware of.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Meanwhile, in an attempt to portray a false image of justice in the clerical regime, Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei, the head of the judiciary, announced that &#8220;Javad Sadatinejad, the former Minister of Agriculture Jihad, has
