The regime in Tehran is staging mourning, but most Iranians are celebrating the death of President Raisi. They dance and sing “Helicopter, helicopter”.<\/p>\n

Babak Majidi (name changed) can’t stop laughing. “Look at the picture,” he says via voice message. “How they howl!” The 30-year-old businessman from Mashhad sent a photo via chat showing women in black chadors with faces contorted in pain and crying \u2013 in their hands, they hold pictures of the late Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Ebrahim Raisi died last week in a helicopter crash. The President was in the border area with Azerbaijan with a delegation; on the way back, the helicopter crashed, presumably due to bad weather and difficult terrain. Other officials of the Iranian regime died with him, including Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian.<\/p>\n

For many women and girls in European and American countries, the idea of needing permission to engage in political or social activities, or to travel, is inconceivable. However, in Iran, the regime has systematically imposed barriers and obstacles in the name of religion and Islam, severely restricting women\u2019s progress and development. These rights, commonplace in many parts of the world, remain a distant dream for Iranian women. The NCRI has made it a priority to realize these freedoms following the overthrow of the current regime.<\/p>\n
