A majority of Norwegian parliamentarians have issued a joint statement in support of Mrs. Maryam Rajavi\u2019s Ten-Point Plan<\/a>, calling for the terrorist designation of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and recognizing the rights of the MEK Resistance Units<\/a> to oppose the IRGC. This statement aligns with the principles outlined in the 1951 Geneva Convention and the European Convention on Human Rights to defend the rights of the residents of Ashraf-3 in Albania.<\/p>\n

Among the supporters are 10 former ministers, three deputy speakers of parliament, the heads of three parliamentary committees, 10 deputy committee chairs, and nine heads and deputy heads of parliamentary groups. Their statement underscores a strong and broad-based commitment within Norway’s political leadership to address the Iranian regime’s human rights abuses and its destabilizing activities.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Norwegian parliamentarians urged all democratic governments, especially in Europe, to back Maryam Rajavi\u2019s Ten-Point Plan<\/a>. This plan advocates for a democratic republic in Iran based on the separation of religion and state, and gender equality. The statement also condemns the Iranian regime\u2019s repressive measures against Iranian dissidents, particularly those in Ashraf-3, who have been targets of terrorist acts, demonization campaigns, and sham trials in Tehran.<\/span><\/p>\n

Highlighting Tehran\u2019s notorious human rights record, the statement recalls the 1988 massacre where 30,000 political prisoners<\/a> were executed following orders from former Supreme Leader Ruhollah Khomeini. The parliamentarians condemn these ongoing crimes against humanity, particularly the regime\u2019s suppression of women, and call for accountability for those responsible for the 1988 atrocities.<\/span><\/p>\n

Given that the Iranian regime has blocked all avenues for peaceful political change, the Norwegian parliamentarians assert that the international community must recognize the right of the Iranian people to rise up and the right of the MEK Resistance Units<\/a> to confront the IRGC.<\/span><\/p>\n

The statement also condemns the Iranian regime’s destructive policies in the Middle East, including its support for terrorism and attacks on commercial shipping. They call for the IRGC to be designated as a terrorist organization, emphasizing the regime\u2019s threat to regional and global peace and security.<\/span><\/p>\n

Statement on Iran<\/strong><\/p>\n

Supporting Freedom and Resistance in Iran for Global Peace and Security<\/strong><\/p>\n

We are deeply concerned by the Iranian regime\u2019s ruthless suppression of the people of Iran, including ethnic and religious minorities. During the 2022 uprising, according to the UN Special Rapporteur on the Situation of Human Rights in Iran, \u201cverified videos show security forces deliberately shooting unarmed protesters from a short distance”.<\/p>\n

Iran remains the world’s leading per capita executioner. In 1988 alone, 30,000 political prisoners were massacred within weeks following the decree by the regime\u2019s Supreme Leader Ruhollah Khomeini to execute affiliates of the People\u2019s Mojahedin Organisation of Iran (PMOI\/MEK) who persisted in supporting the organization.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, Europe has become the roaming ground for Iran\u2019s state terrorism. In February 2021, a court in Antwerp, Belgium, sentenced a serving Iranian diplomat to 20 years in prison for attempting to bomb the annual summit of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) in a Paris suburb.<\/p>\n

The ruling religious dictatorship is incapable of reform. During the 2022 uprising, the Iranian people rejected any form of dictatorship, whether monarchical or theocratic and called for regime change to establish a democratic republic.<\/p>\n

The people of Iran are being denied all of their political and civil rights; whereas, the Preamble to the\u00a0Universal Declaration of Human Rights<\/a> underscores the fundamental rights of all human beings, and states: \u201cIt is essential if man is not to be compelled to have recourse, as a last resort, to rebellion against tyranny and oppression, that human rights should be protected by the rule of law\u201d.<\/p>\n

The Iranian regime is the driving force behind the war in the Middle East and attacks on commercial shipping in the Red Sea. The head of the snake is in Iran. Through proxy groups, the IRGC spreads terrorism and obstructs regional and global peace and security.<\/p>\n

  1. We condemn the flagrant violations of human rights, particularly the suppression of women, and we call for the perpetrators of the 1988 massacre to be held accountable for ongoing crimes against humanity.<\/li>\n
  2. The people of Iran deserve a democratic system. We urge all democratic governments, particularly in Europe, to support NCRI President-elect Maryam Rajavi’s\u00a0Ten-Point P<\/a>lan for\u00a0a democratic republic based on the separation of religion and state, and gender equality.<\/li>\n
  3. We strongly condemn the Iranian regime’s actions, including terrorist acts and demonization against Iranian dissidents in Ashraf-3, Albania, and holding absentee sham trials in Tehran. We reaffirm their rights under the\u00a01951 Geneva Convention <\/a>and\u00a0the European Convention on Human Rights<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  4. As the Iranian regime has blocked all political avenues for change, the free world must recognize the right of the Iranian people to rise up and the right of leading forces, the MEK Resistance Units, to confront the IRGC.<\/li>\n
