Iran Election Suffers Major Boycott – Iranian Resistance Calls for Action Not Words for President-Elect Pezeshkian<\/h3>\n

Masoud Pezeshkian was elected in the Iranian presidential run-off with an historically low turnout, due to a boycott by the people of Iran. He is a self-declared reformer, but who has also declared the will of Supreme Ruler Khamenei is the law of the land.\u00a0Only nine percent of eligible voters participated in the run-off election.\u00a0The NCRI believes everything was set up for large-scale fraud and that is why the boycott was so successful.<\/p>\n

Previously, the Iranian Resistance had declared that it would welcome it if Khamenei, even through millions of fraudulent votes, were to allow Pezeshkian to assume the presidency. This rift and crack pave the way for an uprising and break the bonds that hold the regime together<\/em>, declared a statement issued by the National Council of Resistance in Iran, the government in exile of the MEK, a rebel force that declares it is fighting for a free Iran.<\/p>\n

Paris, July 6 (EFE).\u2014 The opposition group National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) stated this Saturday that Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, is the “strategic loser” of the presidential elections held on Friday in the country, which they labeled as an “electoral farce,” and in which the reformist Masoud Pezeshkian emerged victorious. In a statement, the NCRI, which is headquartered in France, noted that they “look favorably” on Khamenei allowing Pezeshkian to assume the presidency, even if it is “with millions of fraudulent votes,” as his election could be a “crack” paving “the way for an uprising” and to “break the bonds that hold the regime together.”<\/p>\n

“The system is hollowed out from within,” added the sources, “and the wolves are tearing each other apart.”<\/p>\n

Iranian regime supreme leader Ali Khamenei was forced to admit to the widespread boycott of the first round of the farcical presidential election and tried again to use the regime\u2019s non-existent \u201chonor\u201d to rally the regime\u2019s base to vote in the runoff election. But again, the people of Iran turned the election into a referendum, voting \u201cno\u201d to the entire regime with a massive and unprecedented boycott.<\/p>\n

The Social Headquarters of the Mojahedin in the country monitored 2,000 fixed polling stations, sampled based on recommendations from experts.<\/p>\n

Pezeshkian himself justified internet shutdowns by claiming, \u201cWhile we agree with internet restrictions like the rest of the world, we need to ensure that people can earn a living in this space.<\/p>\n

Iran\u2019s Regime Selects New President in Massively Boycotted<\/h3>\n

With the completion of the vote count for the majority of ballot boxes, Iran\u2019s Ministry of Interior declared Massoud Pezeshkian as the winner of the 14th presidential election.<\/p>\n

According to the Ministry of Interior, in the second round, Massoud Pezeshkian secured 16,384,157 votes, defeating Saeed Jalili to win the presidency for a four-year term.\u00a0According to figures released by the Iranian regime, voter turnout was about 40% in the first round and 50% in the second round. However, there are serious doubts about the accuracy of these statistics. Many accuse the government of manipulating the results and inflating the number of votes, claiming that the actual turnout was much lower than reported.<\/p>\n
