Syrian Opposition Official George Sabra gave a speech in support of the Iranian people and their Organized Resistance (NCRI and PMOI) led by Mrs. Maryam Rajavi for a free, democratic, non-nuclear republic of Iran.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

On June 30, at the Free Iran 2024 World Summit<\/a> in Paris, George Sabra, a member of the Syrian Democratic People\u2019s Party, delivered a stirring speech emphasizing solidarity with the Iranian Resistance and advocating for freedom and democracy across the region. Sabra hailed the enduring spirit of those who fight for human rights and democracy, recognizing the Iranian people’s successful overthrow of the Shah’s dictatorship over forty years ago.<\/p>\n

Sabra condemned the theocratic regime that hijacked the Iranian revolution, describing how the consolidation of religious and temporal power led to an era of bloodshed. He criticized the Iranian regime and its Revolutionary Guards<\/a> for their violent oppression of the Iranian people, employing imprisonment, exile, persecution, and executions as tools of governance.<\/p>\n

Expanding on the regime\u2019s detrimental influence, the Syrian opposition leader detailed how the Iranian regime exported its destructive policies to the region, spreading division, hatred, and corruption through its militias in multiple countries. He specifically noted the regime’s support for perpetuating the Assad regime in Syria, enabling ongoing violence and massacres initiated by Qasem Soleimani.<\/p>\n

Sabra praised the persistent uprisings of the Iranian people against their rulers, emphasizing the significant role of the People’s Mojahedin Organization<\/a> of Iran (PMOI\/MEK) and the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) in these protests. He asserted that change in Iran is not only necessary for the Iranian people but also crucial for regional and global stability.<\/p>\n

Sabra condemned the policy of appeasement towards the Iranian regime, arguing that it has spawned numerous oppressive regimes and conflicts in the region. He called for solidarity with the Iranian people\u2019s repeated uprisings and the sacrifices of their youth to free themselves from a regime of bloodshed.<\/p>\n

For more than forty years, the Iranian people succeeded in overthrowing the Shah’s dictatorship and his regime, achieving their ambition and free will in determining their destiny, ensuring sovereignty and independence in Iran, and contributing to regional security and stability. However, the theocratic regime that hijacked the revolution and climbed upon it has placed Iran and the region in a state of constant conflict, violence, and instability.<\/span><\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n
