The recently elected (in a sham poll), so-called “moderate” and “reformist” president of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, is presiding over an ideological purge of teachers and university professors. One which has echoes of the darkest days of Joseph Stalin\u2019s Soviet Union.\u00a0More than 20,000 school principals have been removed from their posts in a punitive shake-up, according to reports in the state-run newspaper Etemad.\u00a0Apparently, the move is part of a broader strategy to eliminate dissent and enforce loyalty within the country\u2019s educational system.<\/p>\n

The academics targeted are believed to have been involved in widespread protests that broke out in schools and colleges across Iran, during the nationwide uprising in 2022\/23, triggered by the death in custody of the young Kurdish woman Mahsa Amini.<\/p>\n

In 1988, when Iranian regime supreme leader Ruhollah Khomeini issued a handwritten decree for the massacre of political prisoners, he believed that by physically eliminating the PMOI, he could also destroy their ideals. If we examine history from this perspective, we will find that this is a mistake often made by dictators. In response to the executioners who had doubts after receiving his handwritten decree, he wrote:<\/p>\n

\u201cAnyone who remains loyal to the cause of hypocrisy [PMOI] at any stage should be executed. Destroy the enemies of Islam swiftly. Regarding the handling of the case files, whichever way the verdict can be carried out faster is preferred.\u201d<\/p>\n

With this emphasis, there is no doubt that Khomeini harbored the intention of committing genocide against the Mojahedin and took action on it in the last years of his disgraceful life. His successor Ali Khamenei continued this policy towards the PMOI.<\/p>\n

The vice president of economy at the Tehran Chamber explains that the concept of \u201chappiness economics\u201d encompasses official academic studies examining the relationship between individual satisfaction and economic factors such as employment and wealth. Researchers primarily use surveys and indicators to track what different economies provide to their citizens.<\/p>\n

Iran\u2019s Regime Intensifies Pressure on Dissident Families<\/h3>\n

In continuation of the pressure on the families seeking justice, the Islamic Revolutionary Court of Isfahan sentenced Maryam Mehrabi to six years in prison and additional punishments.\u00a0According to hra-news, the six-year prison sentence and additional punishments for Maryam Mehrabi were recently issued by Branch One of the Isfahan Revolutionary Court, presided over by Mohammadreza Tavakoli, and were communicated to this political prisoner on Sunday, August 4.<\/p>\n

Ms. Mehrabi was sentenced to one year in prison for \u201cpropaganda against the regime\u201d and five years for \u201cseducing or inciting people to war and killing with the intent of disturbing national security.\u201d The Revolutionary Court also issued additional punishments of \u201ctwo years of service prohibition and a two-year travel ban.\u201d<\/p>\n

Iranian Regime Authorities Deny Medical Transfer for Zeinab Jalalian in Her 17th Year of Imprisonment<\/h3>\n

Human rights sources report the continued \u201clack of medical care\u201d for Zeinab Jalalian and state that the authorities of Yazd prison are opposing the repeated requests of this political prisoner for transfer to medical centers outside the prison.\u00a0According to these reports, a source close to\u00a0Zeinab Jalalian<\/a>\u2018s family confirmed that this political prisoner \u201chas been suffering from multiple physical problems for a long time,\u201d but judicial authorities do not accept her \u201crequests\u201d for hospital transfer.<\/p>\n

This political prisoner \u201cis kept with general crime prisoners without observing the principle of separation of crimes\u201d and \u201csuffers from pterygium (eye condition), kidney, and gastrointestinal diseases.\u201d She also \u201csuffers from severe side pain.\u201d<\/p>\n
