Airstrikes Launched on Several Parts of Yemen, Houthi Al Masirah TV Says<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Oct 4 (Reuters) – Airstrikes were launched on Friday at several parts of Yemen including its capital Sanaa and Hodeidah airport, Al Masirah TV, the main television news outlet run by the Houthi movement controlling much of Yemen, and residents said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Strikes also targeted the south of Dhamar city and the southeast of al-Bayda province, the channel added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Residents said that the attack on al-Bayda province targeted several Houthi military outposts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Al Masirah TV reported that the strikes had been carried out by the United States and British forces, but a British government source said Britain was not involved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TEL AVIV, October 4. \/TASS\/. Hezbollah\u2019s communication chief, Mohammad Rashid Sakafi, was killed during Israel\u2019s air strike on Beirut on October 3, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) press service said in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“[On] Thursday, the IAF conducted a precise, intelligence-based strike in the area of Beirut, eliminating Mohammad Rashid Sakafi, responsible for the Hezbollah terrorist organization’s communication networks,” the IDF said in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the IDF, Sakafi “was responsible for the communications unit since 2000.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“As part of his position, Sakafi invested significant efforts to develop communication capabilities between all of Hezbollah’s units, in all periods of operation, in order to maintain the flow of information throughout the terrorist organization,” the statement reads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The West’s Failed Policy Towards Iran<\/h3>\n\n\n

For decades, Western countries have pursued an ineffective policy toward Iran, which has often reinforced the regime’s aggressive agenda. Based on deterrence and fear of destabilization, this approach is now outdated. Recent events have exposed the regime’s weaknesses, and a reassessment is necessary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The deaths of key leaders of Hamas and Hezbollah, Iran’s most important proxy groups, show the vulnerability of the regime. The threats to set the region on fire no longer carry the same weight. Ali Khamenei now appears more like a paper tiger than a real threat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For decades, Western countries have indirectly strengthened Iran’s military power and Hezbollah. Political appeasement and economic cooperation have made the regime more assertive, while at the same time oppressing its own people and supporting terrorist organizations. Western countries must realize that a passive attitude does not work and that only a concerted effort can neutralize the threat posed by the regime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The rigged election of Masoud Pezeshkian as Iran\u2019s supposedly \u2018reformist\u2019 president in late June was quickly undermined by an unprecedented tsunami of executions. No less than 191 executions have been reported since Pezeshkian took office, including 29 in a single day. Thirteen were hanged on September 24, the very day Pezeshkian addressed the UN General Assembly in New York.  Many of those hanged were sentenced to death for \u201cwaging war against God,\u201d a catchall clause in the mullahs\u2019 constitution that targets any political opponents of the theocratic regime. Three supporters of the Mojahedin-e Khalq (MEK), the main democratic opposition movement, including a boxing champion, have been sentenced to death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Western political leaders convinced that Pezeshkian could herald a new era of peaceful co-existence with the Iranian regime, were rapidly disconcerted by the \u2018judicial\u2019 killings, calling on the new president to intervene to stop the executions and to reform the judiciary. There is little likelihood of either taking place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Iran’s involvement in the attacks on the Israeli embassies in Stockholm and Copenhagen earlier this week is an “objective hypothesis”, the head of operations for the Swedish Security Service, Fredrik Hallstr\u00f6m, has said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The target selection and modus operandi suggest Tehran’s involvement in the shooting at the Israeli embassy in Stockholm on Tuesday night (1 October), the official said. The same goes for the hand grenade explosions\u202fnear the Israeli embassy in Copenhagen<\/a>\u202fon Wednesday morning (3 October). “It is similar to what happened on previous occasions”, Hallstr\u00f6m said, adding that the targets were Israeli and the modus operandi relied on the use of gang criminals. These are assumptions for now, not actual knowledge, Hallstr\u00f6m added. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mehdi Omidvar, spokesperson and board member of the Chamber of Trades of Iran, recently announced the launch of a new video surveillance system called \u201cSaptam,\u201d aimed at monitoring public spaces. This system connects cameras installed by various guilds and businesses to cloud servers managed by the national telecommunications system, enabling local police to access recorded footage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The implementation of the Saptam system will initially involve 39 guilds and approximately 280 trade groups, including high-profile sectors such as gold dealers and restaurants. These businesses will be required to link their cameras to the system via the national license portal, thereby granting the local police direct access to their video feeds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Omidvar emphasized that the Saptam system was developed with the support of the private sector, alongside the cooperation of the national license portal and law enforcement agencies. However, all businesses in Iran, whether private or public, are now mandated to register their surveillance systems in Saptam for approval, according to the reports released.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
