US Imposes Curbs on Firms over Support of Pakistan, Iran Weapons Programs<\/h3>\r\n

By Agence France Presse (AFP) – The United States added more than two dozen entities to a trade blacklist Monday over alleged support of weapons and drone development programs in Pakistan and Iran, and for other issues including aiding Russia’s war effort in Ukraine.<\/p>\r\n

The 26 targets, mostly in Pakistan, China, and the United Arab Emirates, were said to have violated export controls, been involved in “weapons programs of concern,” or evaded US sanctions and export controls on Russia and Iran, said the Commerce Department.<\/p>\r\n

\r\n

Their addition to the so-called “entity list” restricts them from getting US items and technologies without government authorization.<\/p>\r\n

“We are vigilant in defending US national security from bad actors,” said Under Secretary of Commerce for Industry and Security Alan Estevez in a statement.<\/p>\r\n

Some Schools in Iran Force Parents to Clean the School for Not Paying Tuition<\/h3>\r\n

The state-run Etemad newspaper reported that some schools are forcing parents to clean the schools due to their inability to pay tuition fees. In Taybad, a girls\u2019 school, Bahonar, threatened to expel a student if her father didn\u2019t pay the tuition. In Tehran, a school compiled a list of underprivileged families and contacted them to clean the school. *Etemad* on October 18, citing a report of a mother being forced to clean her child\u2019s classroom, stated that this practice has also occurred in other schools.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

According to the newspaper, the practice of having parents clean schools is not new. Some schools compel the parents of underprivileged students to clean the school during the registration process. If the families refuse, they are threatened with their child\u2019s expulsion.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n
