UPDATE: 1:00 PM CEST<\/span><\/p>\r\n Iranian state media has reported that Mohammad Sabah, the Khamenei-appointed Friday prayer leader in the city of Kazeroon, was shot and killed by an armed assailant today, Friday, October 25.<\/p>\r\n Reports indicate<\/a> that Sabah was attacked shortly after leading Friday prayers.\u00a0After shooting Sabah, the assailant took his own life with the same weapon.<\/p>\r\n Fars News, affiliated with Iran\u2019s Revolutionary Guard, confirmed that Sabah was transferred to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries. The state broadcaster also reported his death, marking the latest incident in a series of violent attacks against state-affiliated clerics in the country.<\/p>\r\n Kazeroon, located in the western part of Fars province, has seen similar incidents in the past.
