Speaking on behalf of a nation grappling with over a decade of conflict, he identified the regime as the primary driver of chaos in Yemen through its proxy, the Houthi rebel group.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cYemen&#8217;s suffering is not merely a tragedy,\u201d Ambassador Al-Hadhrami said. \u201cIt is the deliberate result of Iran&#8217;s support for chaos and regional instability.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He highlighted the Houthis\u2019 reliance on Iranian backing, including financing and weapons, which have transformed the group into a major threat. \u201cThe Houthis must be stopped, and Yemenis can stop them,\u201d he asserted, emphasizing Yemen\u2019s resolve but underscoring the need for external support.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ambassador Al-Hadhrami proposed a three-point strategy to address the Houthi threat:<\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Designating the Houthis as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO): \u201cThis step, similar to the designations of Hezbollah and the IRGC, would send a strong message that their actions, terrorizing civilians, targeting maritime security, and destabilizing the region, are unacceptable.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Supporting Yemeni forces to liberate the port of Hudaydah: He called this action critical, adding, \u201cSecuring this vital port in the Red Sea\u2026will pressure them to engage in meaningful peace talks.
