On December 17, 2024, a landmark congressional briefing titled “Iran Policy: Combating the Regime\u2019s Warmongering and Terrorism, Advancing a Democratic, Non-Nuclear Republic”<\/em> was held in the U.S. House of Representatives, bringing together bipartisan leaders, experts, and activists in support of a free and democratic Iran.<\/p>\n

The event featured keynote remarks by Mrs. Maryam Rajavi<\/a>, President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), alongside speeches from a bipartisan array of members of Congress, including Rep. Tom McClintock (R-CA), Rep. Brad Sherman (D-CA), Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC), Rep. Judy Chu (D-CA), Rep Dr. Rich McCormick (R-GA), Rep. Glenn Grothman (R-WI), Rep. Pete Sessions (R-TX), Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-TX), and Rep. Erica Lee Carter (D-TX). Additionally, Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) conveyed her strong support through a written message that was read by the host, Dr. Ramesh Sepehrrad. Their unified voices called for decisive action to support the Iranian people\u2019s aspirations for regime change, democracy, and human rights.<\/p>\n

The conference underscored the importance of bipartisan collaboration in addressing the Iranian regime\u2019s human rights abuses, nuclear ambitions, and export of terrorism<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In her virtual address to the U.S. Congress conference, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi<\/strong> emphasized that the only viable solution to prevent the Iranian regime from acquiring nuclear weapons is its overthrow by the people and the organized Resistance. She highlighted the regime’s increasing reliance on nuclear armament as a means of survival following its regional failures, particularly the collapse of its proxy-led strategy in the Middle East.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe fall of Assad\u2019s dictatorship,\u201d Mrs. Rajavi noted, \u201cmarks a critical blow to Khamenei\u2019s regime and the IRGC, exposing their extreme weakness.\u201d She described the regime\u2019s proxy tactics in the region as a failure, demonstrating that uprisings and popular discontent have shaken its foundations. Rajavi underscored the urgent need for the international community to align itself with the Iranian people, who reject all forms of dictatorship, including the Shah and the theocratic regime.<\/p>\n

Mrs. Rajavi commended bipartisan support in the U.S. Congress through House Resolution 1148<\/a>, which recognizes the Iranian people\u2019s right to resist the IRGC and other suppressive forces. She also urged immediate activation of the UN Security Council\u2019s Snapback Mechanism under Resolution 2231 to reinstate sanctions and curb the regime\u2019s nuclear ambitions.<\/p>\n

Reaffirming the NCRI\u2019s commitment to a democratic Iran, Mrs. Rajavi outlined a vision for a provisional government post-regime overthrow, prioritizing free elections, gender equality, religious tolerance, and a non-nuclear Middle East. She concluded by calling for comprehensive sanctions and an end to the regime\u2019s covert operations abroad.<\/p>\n
