Former UK Minister David Jones addressed members and supporters of the Iranian Resistance in an international conference on January 11, 2025<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

On January 11, 2025, David Jones, former UK Minister and a long-standing advocate for Iranian freedom, addressed an international conference<\/a> in Paris, calling for a decisive shift in Western policy towards Iran.<\/p>\n

Jones highlighted the Iranian regime’s vulnerabilities following the collapse of its ally, Bashar al-Assad, in Syria. He pointed to the regime\u2019s diminishing influence in the region and the growing determination of the Iranian populace to challenge Tehran’s grip on power. Jones praised the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) and its President-elect Maryam Rajavi<\/a>, for their steadfast commitment to democratic change.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Iranian Resistance seeks no foreign financial or military support but demands recognition of the Iranian people’s right to regime change,\u201d Jones emphasized. He urged the international community to abandon appeasement and actively support the NCRI\u2019s vision for a secular, democratic Iran.<\/p>\n

Mrs. Rajavi, colleagues, ladies and gentlemen, friends, it’s a huge pleasure to be here today amongst so many distinguished colleagues from both sides, of the Atlantic. And greetings to my many friends in Ahsraf 3, it’s good to see you there in such strong numbers. As we gather here today in the early days of 2025, I believe that we have good reason to look forward with hope and optimism to the year ahead.<\/p>\n

For the best part of the last 20 years, I’ve taken a keen interest in the affairs of Iran. I’ve watched with dismay the oppressive, aggressive posture struck by the regime in Tehran and the impact that that has had upon the brave Iranian people. The progressive deterioration in human rights that they have endured.<\/p>\n

I was for many years, the chairman of the British Parliamentary Committee for Iran freedom, and I was proud to be one of the claimants in the action in the European Court of Justice which resulted in the deprescription of the PMOI not only in Europe but also in the United Kingdom and in the United States. And as other speakers have already said, it’s a great shame that that deprescription has not been followed by the prescription of the IRGC.<\/p>\n
