According to the report, &#8220;Iran experienced significant military setbacks in 2024, as did many of its allies (including armed groups and groups proscribed as terrorist groups by the UK).&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">One of the most striking developments covered in the report is the fall of Bashar al-Assad\u2019s government in Syria in December 2024. The report states: &#8220;The government of President Bashar al-Assad rapidly collapsed as the Syrian opposition, including proscribed terrorist group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), advanced towards Damascus in December. Bashar al-Assad left for Russia.&#8221; The clerical regime in Iran, which had provided substantial <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/terrorism-a-fundamentalism\/the-iranian-regimes-role-in-propping-up-bashar-al-assad-in-syria\/\">financial and military support<\/a> to Assad, lost a key regional ally. The collapse also severed a crucial supply route that Iran and Hezbollah had used for years to transport weapons.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The report also outlines Hezbollah\u2019s deteriorating position, stating: &#8220;Hezbollah lost a significant number of fighters and its leader in its 2023\/24 conflict.&#8221; Although Hezbollah retains support within the Lebanese Shia community and holds seats in parliament, it has struggled to maintain its previous level of influence.
