His remarks, delivered <a href=\"https:\/\/fararu.com\/fa\/news\/830071\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">during a televised interview<\/a>, come amid speculation that Masoud Pezeshkian\u2019s administration is preparing to increase fuel prices after five years of price stability.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Rahmani Fazli, who was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/iran-protests-2019\/iranian-officials-involved-in-suppression-of-2019-iran-protests-uprising\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">among those responsible<\/a> for handling nationwide protests in November 2019, which erupted after a 200% fuel price hike, advised the government to &#8220;learn from the experiences of 2019&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;I am not here to say whether the government should implement this or not,&#8221; he stated. &#8220;But if they decide to do so, they must absolutely use the lessons of 2019 to their full advantage.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Highlighting the volatile political and economic climate, he added:\u00a0&#8220;Fuel is no longer just an economic issue. It has become a political, social, and, for our enemies, a security issue. The conditions today are incomparable to 2019. Back then, neither the currency rate nor inflation was at this level. The level of external threats was different. The accumulation of public discontent is significantly higher.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The clerical regime has refrained from increasing fuel prices since November 2019, when protests against the price hike turned into one of the deadliest crackdowns in the country\u2019s history. According to Reuters, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/world\/special-report-irans-leader-ordered-crackdown-on-unrest-do-whatever-it-take-idUSKBN1YR0QO\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">1,500 people were killed<\/a> during the protests, with thousands more arrested and subjected to torture and ill-treatment.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Reports indicate that the government is considering implementing a four-tier fuel pricing system starting March 2025 (Norouz 1404). The economic system is riddled with corruption and inefficiency.\u201d He blamed both internal incompetence and external adversaries for the ongoing crisis. His assessment underscores the disconnect between the regime\u2019s claims of resource abundance and its failure to meet the basic needs of its population.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Lotfollah Siahkali, a former MP, sounded the alarm on the regime\u2019s economic mismanagement. \u201cIf the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/tejaratnews.com\/video\/%D8%A8%D8%AE%D8%B4-%D8%A7%D9%82%D8%AA%D8%B5%D8%A7%D8%AF-%DA%A9%D9%84%D8%A7%D9%86-6\/957121-%D9%82%DB%8C%D9%85%D8%AA-%D8%AF%D9%84%D8%A7%D8%B1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">dollar reaches 90,000 tomans<\/a>, economic collapse will be inevitable,\u201d he warned. \u201cPeople have no reserves left to withstand another wave of inflation.
